Malaysia’s Good Vibes Festival will return this summer following an incident last year when the event was cut short during The 1975’s headlining set. Frontman Matty Healy harshly criticized the country’s anti-lgbtq+ stance onstage at the three-day Kuala Lumpur festival, resulting in a cancelation of the following two days.
“I am sorry if that offends you and you’re religious and it’s part of your fucking government, but your government are a bunch of fucking retards and I don’t care anymore,” Healy told the audience. “If you push,...

Singer-songwriter Alec Benjamin weaves a wild self-help yarn on his new song, “I Sent My Therapist to Therapy.”
The title is basically the conceit of the song, but Benjamin fills the verses with intricate storytelling, culminating in the chorus, “He said, I’ll tell you what I’m sorry but I thought I’d never see/A case as bad as yours/Don’t think I have a remedy/ Think he needs help now/Oh the irony/I’m so messed up I sent my therapist to therapy.” And, in the ultimate twist,...

Would you like a song from John Legend about your morning walk? Or a ditty from Demi Lovato about dinner last night? Or a ballad about a sunset from T-Pain? YouTube is releasing a tool that will make those a reality.
Called Dream Tracks, the AI tool will let users input a brief prompt and select a participating artist. The AI will then create track of up to 30 seconds that users can include in a YouTube Shorts video. The tool will initially be available to a select group of creators, with the current roster of participating artists including Alec Benjamin, Charlie Puth, Charli Xcx, Demi Lovato, John Legend, Papoose, Sia, T-Pain, and Troye Sivan.
You can see an example featuring Charlie Puth, below.
YouTube also released a set of statements from the participating musicians, with some strongly enthused by the tech, and others more cautiously optimistic.

Singer-songwriter Sarah Barrios continues an impressive string of single releases with ‘Healing in a Parking Lot’, a dance pop anthem about the uplifting power of simple quiet moments with friends. Along with producer Dave the Doctor, Barrios pieces together a beautiful composition that captures her anxiety through frantic verses and her eventual emotional release through a soaring chorus.
Sarah reflects, “When I was younger, there wasn’t a lot to do in my hometown, so I would go to the local Target parking lot with friends and we would listen to music and hang out by their car. I have no idea why, but that always felt like a safe space for me and still does. Music can really uplift your mood when you’re in a bad place mentally, so I wanted to capture that feeling of freedom and peace in this song.”

Dec. 02, 2022 — Multi-talented lo-fi producer, singer and songwriter Powfu has released his debut full-length project via Columbia Records today – surrounded by hounds and serpents. The 9-song collection is highlighted by new single “shade of blue”, which has arrived alongside an official video that was shot and directed by Aze Avora. The blue-hued video follows Powfu and labelmate Rxseboy through a series of trippy, space-like environments as they perform the moody guitar-driven track.
“This is the biggest project I’ve ever released and I’m really proud of all the months of work that went into it,” says Powfu. “I wanted everything to be as authentic as possible from the music to the videos, so I shot and edited 6 of the visuals myself. I really tried to push myself creatively and stretch into multiple genres so that every song has a different feel and there’s a little something for everyone.”
