Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
My hunch about the higher production values for The Amityville Terror (2016) wound up being true, and whether it’s the slightly more polished look or a cast of professional actors, the sixteenth film in the “franchise” is easily the best in quite some time.
That’s grading on a scale since there are still some pretty glaring issues in the film, but, overall, director Michael Angelo has delivered a solidly entertaining Dtv film with soft callbacks to other franchise entries.
After a cold open that’s revealed to be a bracketing storyline, Amanda Barton’s screenplay quickly establishes a familiar foundation: a troubled family moves into a suspiciously cheap house on Amity Lane and the bad energy eventually manifests in murderous behavior.

Riverdale Season 6 Episode 4
“I know, it read it in the comics”
For its 100th episode, Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa scripted what is easily the show’s most audacious episode. “The Jughead Paradox” had the unenviable task of wrapping up the entire “Rivervale” saga and setting the stage for the rest of the series’ sixth season — which will air when the show returns in the spring. That alone would be enough of a challenge for any writer to tackle, yet Aguirre-Sacasa ups the creative ante by having the installment also become a meta funhouse mirror reflection of itself by reinserting long-gone characters into the narrative and having characters reflect on nearly every ridiculous thing that has ever happened during the series. Oh yeah, there is also the plotline about parallel universes colliding into each other and threatening to wipe out the whole of existence unless Jughead can save the day.

What it means to return home has proven to be a central theme for producer Lucinda Bruce across the past year and a half.
Not only is she involved in Niki Byrne’s US homecoming drama Evan Wood but Covid-19 has brought her back to her native state of Victoria for an extended period.
As someone who spent more than three years living in Vancouver and regularly divides her time between LA and Australia, Bruce told If she felt “very lucky” to be able to reunite with her family in the rural town Ross Creek prior to the pandemic taking hold.

Fans of Riverdale are always happy to see Trevor Stines, even though his character, Jason Blossom is dead, he has a recurring role in flashbacks throughout the series. We adore the series with it’s gritty, modern take on how the classic small town characters might work if they’d been created now instead of when the original comic came out on December 22nd, 1941. Naturally, there’s more to Trevor than being Jason, so we took a look at this impressive young actor and found ten things you didn’t know about Trevor Stines. 1. It’s a Sunday night: you’ve just finished your job delivering leaflets for a local takeaway, you have algebra homework to do, you haven’t cleaned your room and your mum’s on the warpath. You’re sat in bed with ice cream watching serial killer documentaries and listening to The Smiths. Everything’s fine.
We’ve all been teenagers, and it isn’t easy. Puberty’s happening. You’re trying to do homework instead of going out with your friends every night. All your friends are making out with friends of friends. You have to think of clever tweets and take aesthetic selfies for Instagram. Your phone cannot be out of your line of sight for a second. It’s the apocalypse.
And your parents don’t understand, they’re just in your face all the time, trying to make you do chores or last week’s essay.

Originally, Archie Andrews and his pals at Riverdale High reflected the codification of teenage life, as they had more leisure time and disposable income. Once it hit big, the comic series and its infinite number of spinoffs, became stuck in amber, barely trying to keep up with changing trends (other than fashion) or concerns for teens. By the 2000s, the entire company was on the ropes, increasingly irrelevant in a rapidly changing world.
In comics, they threw a Hail Mary, revamping the writing and art, making the characters look and act in contemporary ways. Thanks to Mark Waid, Adam Hughes, Chip Zdarsky, and a few others, the characters were suddenly cool once more. The company’s product mix suddenly had the classic digest reprints, the new look, some Zombie title and they were saved.

Alright, so we’ve known about the upcoming darker Cheryl Blossom season 2 arc for a couple of months now. But we wanted to explore it further since some new details have come out about it. Not only will this happen, it sounds like her much meaner attitude will have some merit behind it. In a recent report on Comicbook.com, they revealed that there was some backstory on Cheryl that didn’t make the season one edits. Apparently, not only was her mother very cruel to her and didn’t show her love. We now know that she also used to beat her! These awful facts are going to lead Cheryl into taking on a much more ruthless and meaner attitude after burning down her freaking house. Her portrayer Madelaine Petsch told TV Line, “I actually think she’s going to become even colder and even meaner in Season 2. After...

It's a big day for the students and the parents of Riverdale: It's time for Homecoming! There's also only the final three episodes of the season left, which means there's a lot of ground to cover. Who killed Jason Blossom (Trevor Stines)? Who will die? And how will the whole Archie-Veronica-Betty-Jughead situation play out? We're going to get answers to all of those questions by the time season one wraps up, and it sounds like viewers are going to be pretty satisfied. First, let's talk about Betty (Lili Reinhart). She has yet to learn that Archie (Kj Apa) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) have been smooching, but her reaction might not be as negative as it once was. "I think Betty will have a...

Riverdale hasn’t been a runaway success for The CW, but it so far seems to be doing fairly well. If nothing else, it’s introduced viewers to a lot of young up and coming actors, and among them is Trevor Stines. He plays Jason Blossom in the show, but it turns out that he now has his eye on an entirely different sort of comic book role.
Talking during a recent set visit, Stines revealed that he’d love to play the part of Dick Grayson, a character that comic book fans will obviously know better as Nightwing. The original Robin before setting out on his own path, the hero even held the mantle of Batman for a time, though he’s yet to appear in the live-action realm.

Of all the comic book adaptations that have flooded film and television in recent years, perhaps none are as ambitious as Riverdale. The CW’s attempt to transport the family-friendly cast of Archie Comics into a dark and soapy teen drama could have been disastrous, but instead, it looks to be a very promising offering, calling to mind some of the network’s greatest hits, like Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill.
Here’s six reasons why you should set your DVR for Riverdale, and prepare yourselves for a new fave.
1. A Cast of New, New Hotties (like The O.C. blessed us with)
One of the greatest things a teen drama can do is introduce viewers to a whole new cast of nearly-unknown hotties to swoon over. This is why certain segments of the population still dream of Adam Brody as the ultimate boyfriend or give Jared Leto a pass for almost anything.

Although opinions surrounding The CW’s adaptation of the classic Archie Comics will vary depending on your devotion to said comics (or, like me, your complete lack of knowledge of them), one thing can not be denied about Riverdale: it passes The CW’s long-standing Hot Young Cast Test.
