Netflix is to open an office in Bogota, Colombia, this year, the streamer has announced.
The studio said today that through 2022, it will have more than 30 new projects which include the already announced Ritmo Salvaje, Locombianos, Juanpis, Nada Es Igual, a comedy show starring Alejandra Azcárate, Goles en Contra, Pálpito, Perfil Falso, Diomedes and Chichipatos Season 2.
Netflix also stated today that it has invested more than $175M dollars in local content since 2014 through this year.
Previous Colombian projects backed by Netflix include Siempre Bruja, Distrito Salvaje, Chichipatos, Frontera Verde and El Robo del Siglo; comedy specials such as those of Liss Pereira, Ricardo Quevedo, Antonio Sanint, Julian Arango and Alejandro Riaño, and movies such as Lavaperros.

Get ready to laugh, Los Angeles: Netflix’s comedy brand, Netflix Is a Joke, will host a week-long comedy festival starting in April.
Entitled “Netflix Is a Joke Fest,” the festival will take place across over 20 venues in Los Angeles, including the Hollywood Bowl, Greek Theatre, Hollywood Palladium and The Largo, between April 27 and May 3. Produced by Netflix in association with Live Nation, it will feature some of the best in today’s standup performing, as well as paying homage to comedy legends.
Some of the performers taking part are Dave Chapelle, Martin Lawrence, David Letterman, Ali Wong, Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer, Pete Davidson, Kevin Hart and more.

Netflix has confirmed that 47 new original series, movies and specials will be debuting on the streaming service in April including: the directorial debut of Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson “Unicorn Store”; the newest rom-com with breakout star Noah Centineo “The Perfect Date”; and the bone-chilling horror movie “The Thriller.”

These are comprised of the second installment of crime anthology “Historia de un Crimen,” two new local stand-up comedy specials with Liss Pereira and Ricardo Quevedo; “Wild District” starring Juan Pablo Raba; young adult fantasy “Always a Witch”; and crime thriller “Green Frontier” produced by Dynamo and Ciro Guerra.
