Alexa Valiente, an award-winning producer for ABC News, died Friday evening, the network announced in a small obituary published on Tuesday.
Valiente, 27, had spent six years at the network.
The exact cause of death remains unclear. In their announcement, ABC only said that Valiente had been “facing health issues for several months.”
Reps for ABC News declined to offer additional comment.

In 2018, Valiente won an Emmy for her work on the “20/20” feature “Las Vegas: Heartbreak and Heroes,” about the deadly Las Vegas massacre in October 2017. Her career at ABC included stints on “Nightlight,” “20/20” and “Popcorn With Peter Travers.”
“She was known for her infectious laugh and one-of-a-kind personality that stretched far beyond the walls the newsroom,” colleague Kelly McCarthy wrote, adding that “the news came as a surprise to many in the newsroom who knew her well.”

Bre Payton, staff writer for conservative news site The Federalist and frequent TV commentator, died Friday, one day after was found unconscious and hospitalized with the flu. She was 26.
Federalist publisher Ben Domenech confirmed Payton’s death. “Bre has passed. We are devastated,” Domenech wrote on Twitter Friday. “Last we saw her, she was her funny, smart, vivacious self. Now lost to us so suddenly.”
Payton was admitted to a San Diego hospital Thursday after a friend found her unconscious and barely breathing in her apartment. After a series of tests, Payton was diagnosed with the H1N1 virus, commonly known as swine flu, and possible meningitis, according to a CaringBridge page set up for her.

Bre Payton, a staff writer at The Federalist, was found unconscious in her room Thursday morning and is currently in critical condition at a San Diego, California, hospital.

“24 hours ago I found my friend unconscious and called 911,” Murtaugh said. “She’s been in a coma since and really needs a miracle right now. Please, if you’re religious at all, send prayers this way. We really need them.”
