- Selected as Wisconsin Teacher of the Year in 1960.
- Received her bachelor of science degree from University of Wisconsin-Superior in 1952, her master of arts degree in early childhood education in 1958 from Columbia Unversity in New York, and her advanced degree as specialist in early childhood education in 1961, also from Columbia.
- Taught kindergarten for 53 years.
- Selected as National Teacher of the Year in 1961. President John F. Kennedy presented her award to her in the Rose Garden.
