New Delhi, Aug 16 (Ians) Racewalker Akshdeep Singh, who won gold at the Asian Race Walking Championships, aspires to make a strong impression once again by securing a medal on his debut at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, starting from August 19.

New Delhi, Aug 8 (Ians) Sports Ministry will fund the participation of the Indian contingent, consisting 28 athletes, for the upcoming World Athletics Championships, which will be held in Budapest, Hungary from August 19.
A 42-member contingent, including coaches and support staff, are heading for the world event which will have the best of the best athletes from across the world competing.

Chandigarh, June 4 (Ians) Legendary athlete Milkha Singh, who was on Thursday admitted to a local hospital after he complained of a low oxygen level, is stable and is being monitored by a team of medical experts, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (Pgimer) said on Friday.
"Flying Sikh Shri Milkha Singh ji being unwell due to Covid-19 was admitted in ICU of Nhe block of the Pgimer on Thursday. On the basis of all the medical parameters on Friday, his condition has been observed better and more stable than Thursday. He is being closely monitored by a team of three doctors at Pgimer," said professor Ashok Kumar, official spokesperson of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (Pgimer), in a medical bulletin on Friday.
While 91-year-old Singh was earlier admitted to Fortis Hospital in nearby Mohali, on Thursday he was taken to the Pgimer in his home city Chandigarh.

While 91-year-old Singh was earlier admitted to Fortis Hospital in nearby Mohali, on Thursday he was taken to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (Pgimer) in his home city Chandigarh.
"Four days after he was discharged from a Mohali hospital, he has been again admitted to a local hospital in Chandigarh," a source told Ians.
Singh's wife Nirmal is still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is under observation in Fortis, Mohali.
"Mrs Milkha Singh continues to be in the ICU with fluctuating oxygen requirement," said a Fortis medical bulletin on Thursday.
Nirmal, 82, was last week admitted to the hospital after she tested positive for Covid-19 pneumonia.
Singh is best known for his exploits during the 400m race at the 1960 Rome Olympic Games where he missed the podium by a whisker.

Mohali, May 28 (Ians) Legendary Indian athlete Milkha Singh and his wife Nirmal, being treated for Covid-19, are stable and on path to recovery, said a bulletin on Friday of the hospital where they are admitted.
"Mr and Mrs Milkha Singh are stable and their symptoms are on a downward trend. Mr Milkha Singh's appetite has also improved," Fortis hospital said in the statement.
Last week, Milkha was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital after having tested positive for Covid-19. On Tuesday, he was shifted out of the ICU.
