Glen Powell is currently showing off his leading man chops opposite Sydney Sweeney in Sony’s romantic-comedy “Anyone But You,” and he’ll keep getting the chance to do so in 2024 with Netflix’s “Hit Man” and Warner Bros.’ “Twisters.” The latter project attempts to turn the 1996 box office hit “Twister” into a new franchise — but don’t call it a reboot, says Powell. There’s a reason Warner Bros. is billing the disaster movie as “a new chapter” of the 1996 original.
“It’s definitely not a reboot,” Powell recently told Vogue about the “Twisters” movie, which has been referred to as a “Twister” sequel, reboot and remake in various press stories since it was first announced in late 2022. “We’re not trying to recreate the story from the first one. It’s a completely original story. There are no characters from the original movie back, so it’s not really a continuation.

"If the summer doesn't sing in you, then nothing sings in you. And if nothing sings in you, then you can't make music."
This quote is featured prominently in the new trailer for "Maestro," the latest directorial effort from Bradley Cooper, which you can watch above. It's clear that something is really singing for Bradley Cooper with this film, whether it's summer or something else entirely, because this film looks like it is filled with his blood, sweat and tears.
"Maestro" tells the story of acclaimed composer Leonard Bernstein (played by Cooper himself) and the lifelong relationship and marriage he shared with Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein (Carey Mulligan), which included a fair share of complications because Bernstein also identified as homosexual. But as the official synopsis for the movie describes the movie, "A love letter to life and art, 'Maestro' at its core is an emotionally epic portrayal of family and love.

Laura Paredes as Laura in Trenque Lauquen. Laura Citrella on writing with her star: 'It was great, because I had a partner to whom I could talk every day about the film and who also was the main character' Photo: El Pampero Cine Laura Citrella’s Trenque Lauquen - which opens today (April 21) in New York before screening elsewhere in the US - is the sort of work you can kick back and relax into. Her story, which runs across more than four hours and two films, takes viewers not only on a journey into multiple stories through the consideration of a single life but also on a walk across a cinematic landscape, from historical romance to mystery drama and something altogether more fantastical.
The story is driven by, though not always centred upon, Laura, a botanist who is collecting orchid samples in Trenque Lauquen - a real place in Argentina.

This post contains major spoilers for "Perry Mason" season 2.
As season 2 of HBO's "Perry Mason" comes to a close, the final pieces of the increasingly complex puzzle are coming together. With this second run of episodes, new showrunners Jack Amiel and Michael Begler have turned the series from an unrelentingly gloomy affair into a compelling glimpse beneath the surface of 1930s Los Angeles that, much like the court cases Matthew Rhys' Mason conducts so deftly, brings the truth of the era to light. While the production design and lighting beautifully convey the vibrant and often glamorous veneer of the setting, there is plenty of skullduggery and moral decay lurking below the surface.
Much of that is showcased in the stories of Mason's co-counsel Della Street and his lead investigator Paul Drake, who have been given a lot more to do this season. And as a result, they've come face...

This post contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Perry Mason."
It took seven bleak, thrilling, and rather tense episodes, but "Perry Mason" may have finally just unveiled the true murderer of Los Angeles' popular civil servant, Brooks McCutcheon (Tommy Dewey). Ever since poor Perry (Matthew Rhys) decided to hook his wagon to the seemingly hopeless case of Rafael (Fabrizio Guido) and Mateo Gallardo (Peter Mendoza), the two young Mexican brothers accused of committing the crime, he, the tireless Della Street (Juliet Rylance), and dogged investigator Paul Drake (Chris Chalk) have worked overtime to prove their innocence. Or, failing that, at least they tried to get to the corrupt heart of who actually ordered the hit on McCutcheon. The answer to that longstanding question certainly feels like it was answered definitively in the latest episode.

Argentinian writer-director Laura Citarella, part of the film collective El Pampero Cine responsible for such monumental work as La Flor, presented her third feature Trenque Lauquen at the 2022 Venice Film Festival to great acclaim. Divided into Part 1 and Part 2 with a total runtime of over four hours, it’s a shape-shifting tale of suspense, romance, and science fiction surrounding the disappearance of a woman played by co-writer Laura Paredes.
Ahead of its stateside release beginning at Film at Lincoln Center this Friday, we had the chance to speak with Citarella about the creation of this enchantingly unique film.
The Film Stage: Trenque Lauquen is an actual place in Argentina. What made you decide to set your film there?
Laura Citarella: I was thinking of making another film with Laura Paredes, with whom I made my first feature Ostende, which was also about a character who looks at the world and finds stories everywhere.

Francesca Cappucci, who spent more than a decade as a popular entertainment and music reporter at Kabc-tv in Los Angeles, has died. She was 64.
Cappucci died March 30 at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena after being diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic lung cancer in July, her older son, Ian Lyndon, told The Hollywood Reporter. She never smoked and “was an advocate for wellness and ran and exercised every day, that’s why [her illness] was such a shock,” he said.
Out of the blue, Quentin Tarantino named the glamorous Italian movie star wife of Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton after her in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019).
Cappucci and the filmmaker never met, Ian said, and she was “blown away” when she and his brother, Will, saw the movie on the big screen for the first time. (The character was played by Chilean actress Lorenza Izzo.)

While many films through the summer movie season will boast of their epic scope, we imagine the results will pale in comparison to a fall festival highlight that is now arriving in theaters. As a producer of Extraordinary Stories and La Flor, Laura Citarella is well-versed in telling tales on a large canvas. Her latest feature––the two-part, four-hour Trenque Lauquen––will open on April 21 at NYC’s Film at Lincoln Center and April 29 at LA’s American Cinematheque. Ahead of the release from Cinema Guild, we’re pleased to exclusively debut the new trailer.
Here’s the synopsis: The search for a missing woman unspools in two unexpectedly interconnected parts in Laura Citarella’s playful new feature. The missing woman is Laura (Laura Paredes), a biologist cataloging plant species in and around the Argentinean city of Trenque Lauquen. Rafael Nadal's former coach and uncle, Toni Nadal, has shared his views on when the 36-year-old might retire from professional tennis.
Nadal has had a troubled start to the 2023 season as he crashed out of the Australian Open second round in January and has not returned since due to ongoing injury issues. However, the Spanish player hopes to make a return in time for the upcoming clay-court season. Yet, he withdrew from the upcoming Monte-Carlo Masters.
Uncle Toni, who coached Nadal until 2017, spoke to Talking Tennis and admitted that he doesn't get much information about how his former player is progressing. However, he did say the former world number one was in fairly good spirits, despite his setbacks this season.
"Yes, he’s feeling okay but it’s not easy to know exactly because you have to know when you compete because it’s not the same when you practice than when you compete.

This is now shaping up to be the Perry Mason we know.
The Gallardo brothers' trial commenced on Perry Mason Season 2 Episode 5, with the prosecution and defense making their opening statements, and each went in for the kill.
A central element of Perry Mason is the courtroom sessions, where each is a mindblowing moment as hidden truths come to light.
Both sides, armed with their strategy, argued their case. The strategy each used was the only card they had under their sleeves.
For the prosecution, it was painting Brooks as an important community member who the savages had killed. For the defense, it was to show Brooks' hidden side and why there must have been other people with a motive to kill him.
This trial was already peculiar due to the race dynamics involved but became even more sensational when the media got involved.
There is always much noise surrounding the media,...
