Luis Ospina, interviewed shortly before his death, recalls a fierce career that applied the lessons of the French New Wave to his work
Jorge Carvalho’s brief documentary is a study of the Colombian documentarist and film-maker Luis Ospina, the founder of the Grupo de Cali; named after his home town of Cali in Colombia, it was an artists’ collective including director Carlos Mayolo and the writer Andrés Caicedo, whose early death at 25 helped make him a legendary figure of Colombian literature. They were formed in radical opposition to what Ospina and others saw as the dullness and complacency of Colombian cinema, and in sympathy with leftist currents in moviemaking after Godard. The Californian-educated Ospina himself displays a classic New Wave reverence for the American masters such as Hawks and Ford, in whose company he includes Jerry Lewis without any hesitation. A new rumor indicates that Disney has purchased Jeffery Epstein’s Island for $3 billion to add a new Disney Cruise Line Island and theme park.
Is it true?
No. It’s another article from the satire site Mouse Trap News.
The article was posted in early March and joked that Disney likely purchased the island as a cover-up because the island isn’t worth $3 billion. They also tease that people say it should be called “Kidcot.”
“Many people are suggesting the new name of this park should be Kidcot. However, skeptical fans aren’t buying any of this. In fact, many people are speculating that Disney bought this island to cover something up.”
The article further jokes that a Disney executive said:
“… Disney sees an opportunity to turn Epstein’s island into a beacon of innocence and wonder. As one executive put it, “Where there’s scandal, there’s opportunity for a happy ending…...

Match 1: Women’s World Championship – Rhea Ripley def. Becky Lynch The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The Women’s World Championship will remain with Rhea Ripley as Mami defeated The Man to kick off WrestleMania Xl Saturday. WrestleMania 40’s night one in Philadelphia was a spectacle of high-octane wrestling that lived up to the grandeur expected of such a storied event. The evening was headlined by a tag team match featuring Roman Reigns and The Rock against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, which delivered an electrifying performance, setting a dramatic tone for the rest Wrestlemania weekend! The stakes were incredibly high, with the outcome influencing the main event of night two, adding a layer of strategic depth to the match. Roman Reigns and The Rock took the win and if Cody Rhodes is going to “finish the story” he will be playing now by the Bloodline’s rules for night two!
The Bloodline’s presence was felt throughout the night, particularly in the emotionally charged match between estranged twin brothers Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso, which showcased a personal family drama unfolding in the ring.

Pepe.In 2009, a male hippopotamus was killed in Colombia by German hunters under authorization of the local authorities. Nicknamed Pepe by the press—after Los Pepes, a paramilitary group that opposed Pablo Escobar—the hippo was part of a small herd of pachyderms originally brought to the country from southern Africa in the late 1970s by the notorious drug lord. Escobar kept the hippos on his estate until 1993 when he was gunned down by US and Colombian special forces, whereupon they were left to wander free from the property. Today, there are over 100 of these so-called “cocaine hippos” living in Colombia’s Magdalena River Valley.Pepe (2024), the fourth feature by Dominican director Nelson Carlo de los Santos Arias, takes this stranger-than-fiction story as the jumping-off point for reimagining Pepe’s journey from the frontiers of South West Africa to the tropics of Estación Cocorná, where a pair of fishermen attempt...

The term “sweeper keeper” might not be unfamiliar to people who follow modern-day football, but back in the late 80s and early 90s, the idea of a goalkeeper getting out of the post and trying to contribute to goal-scoring by marching forward was unimaginable. And then there was René Higuita, the legendary Colombian goalkeeper, who made it a point to do it, which subsequently changed the course of the game. The latest Netflix documentary Higuita: The Way of the Scorpion puts the same man in the middle, but instead of telling his life story in a structural manner, it plays out just like René used to on the field. Let us take a closer look.
Who Was René Higuita?
The answer to that question would be “one of the most colorful characters ever to play the sport”. Arguably one of the greatest Colombian footballers, Higuita’s style of goalkeeping was...

If you were a kid or teen in the 2000s, it's likely that you watched at least one movie featuring Josh Hutcherson, and it's also likely that you had a favorite movie with him in it. Hutcherson began acting in the early 2000s and had minor roles in a variety of TV shows before making his film debut in 2003's "American Splendor." From there, Hutcherson was launched into stardom and starred in a number of popular films throughout the decade, including "Kicking & Screaming," "Zathura: A Space Adventure," and "Journey to the Center of the Earth." By the 2010s, Hutcherson took on more mature roles and arguably landed his most popular role as Peeta Mellark in "The Hunger Games," which he would reprise for the remaining three movies in the beloved film series.

Disney’s Kdrama, The Worst of Evil has probably left a narcotic-sized hole in your hearts, especially with that ending. Grandiose in its presentation, set in late 90s Seoul, The Worst of Evil is visually charming while also delivering a well-crafted story that is emotional and thrilling at the same time. Yeah, it’s nothing new, but the show goes beyond what is expected from it. The fantastic cast plays the biggest role in making this work, and the chemistry between all members is palpable. The Worst of Evil is directed with finesse; even the classic Korean beauty shot feels more raw and eerie with the setting of the late 90s. Some scenes are unforgettable, and we have to talk about the costume design, which is absolutely flawless. Did anybody else want all the suits for themselves? We’ve compiled a list that includes worldwide shows that cover similar themes...

“The Marvelous Mrs Maisel” is coming to an end as its fifth and final season streams on Amazon Prime Video. The successful comedy, which has bagged 20 Emmys to date including a Best Comedy Series win in 2018, follows Rachel Brosnahan‘s titular Miriam “Midge” Maisel who, after her husband leaves, pursues a career in stand-up comedy. A key character in this pursuit is Alex Borstein‘s Susie Myerson, who runs the Gaslight Café, where Midge first begins her stand-up career.
As Susie, Borstein delivers a no-holds-barred performance as she creates an unorthodox, straight-talking, hilarious character who becomes Midges’ manager later in the series. Critics think she is deserving of another Emmy nomination for this fifth and final season of “The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.” Among those singing her praises:
Kevin Fallon (The Daily Beast) wrote: “Alex Borstein, who has won two deserved Emmy Awards for her performance as Susie, gives a tour de force this season—which,...

Match #1: The Brawling Brutes def. Imperium The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Only six days after his brutal Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania, Intercontinental Champion Gunther once again squared off with one of his opponents that night, Sheamus. Butch, like always, started like a house on fire, lighting up Giovanni Vinci with strikes. Butch did not let up on Vinci, using joint manipulation to pick apart Vinci with ease. As Gunther and Sheamus were jaw-jacking, Butch became distracted, allowing Ludwig Kaiser to assist Vinci in dropping Butch with a tremendous suplex. As the match broke down, Holland bouldered through Kaiser, lifting him up and dropping him with an Alabama Slam. The strength from Holland backfired as all three members of Imperium...

Colombia has announced that it is transferring 70 hippopotamuses to overseas sanctuaries in an attempt to contain its growing population. These hippos belonged to the notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar, who illegally imported four hippos to Colombia from Africa in the 1980s. Escobar’s story was shown in the Netflix series Narcos.
After the cocaine baron was fatally shot by Colombian police in 1993, the animals were abandoned and left to roam freely in an area of Antioquia, where Escobar’s Hacienda Napoles estate was located. With the hippos reproducing in nearby rivers and spreading to towns nearby, environmental authorities failed to curb their number, which risks upsetting the local ecosystem.

There are now 130 hippopotamuses in the area, and the Colombian authorities plan to catch almost half over the next few months and plan to transfer 10 of them to the Ostok Sanctuary in northern Mexico, and 60 to a yet-to-be-named facility in India.

Rep. Tim Burchett came clean on Monday about the Republican Party’s plan to address the national epidemic of school shootings. “We’re not going to fix it,” he told reporters.
The Tennessee representative clarified his comments on Thursday, explaining that there actually is one way to make progress. “Repenting of your sins and having some sort of reform in this country seems to me to be the way we’re going to have to turn this way around, because we have some sick and evil people doing some very vile things,...
