A federal judge voiced concern Friday that a sprawling copyright infringement lawsuit against reggaeton superstar Bad Bunny — and more than a hundred other artists including Karol G, Pitbull, Anitta, Drake, and Daddy Yankee — could put a chokehold on the “creativity” of an entire genre of music.
Still, U.S. District Judge Andre Birotte Jr. declined to issue an immediate ruling after hearing nearly two hours of argument over a defense motion to dismiss the high-profile case filed by lawyers for the Jamaican group Steely & Clevie.

Harrison Ford originally didn’t care too much about a Blade Runner sequel. But it didn’t take long for iconic filmmaker Scott to persuade Ford to do the feature.
Ridley Scott once revealed how he persuaded Harrison Ford to return to ‘Blade Runner 2049’
Scott had been developing a Blade Runner sequel for quite some time after his 1982 sci-fi cult classic. It would take decades, but a sequel would eventually hit theaters in the form of 2049. The movie had a mixture of veteran actors like Harrison Ford, and another generation of actors like Ryan Gosling and Dave Bautista. A couple of years before the film debuted, Ford shared what he thought of a possible sequel in a 2014 Reddit Ama.
“I’m quite curious and excited about seeing a new script for Blade Runner if in fact the opportunity would exist to do another, if it’s a good script...

Dune: Part Two, the second half of director Denis Villeneuve’s two-part adaptation of the Frank Herbert novel Dune, has a release date of November 3rd – and in this build-up to the film’s release, we’ve previously only heard that Villeneuve wrote the screenplay with Jon Spaihts, who he also collaborated with on the script for Dune: Part One. (Their Part One co-writer Eric Roth decided not to work on the follow-up.) Now, The Last of Us showrunner Craig Mazin has revealed that he was also a “participating writer” on Dune: Part Two!
Speaking with The Playlist, Mazin said that he’s basically out of the movie business, because he’s focusing on The Last of Us and his other TV work. But “I will work with certain directors when they call because I love them and because they’re so brilliant. So if, like, Denis Villeneuve calls, then absolutely.

I opened Twitter on a beautiful Friday evening because I’ve long struggled to treat myself well and ultimately don’t believe I deserve happiness. But after 14 years it’s paid off: much chatter led me to The Guardian‘s recent piece on Claire Denis, a fascinating (and accurate) window into the experience of interviewing a not-always-patient genius. More than a good read it’s a brief look ahead, with notice Denis has just––as in: last week––finished writing a new feature for which she’ll begin scouting this month in Cameroon.
Cameroon, of course, bearing profound significance: experiences growing up in the country were basis for Denis’ debut feature Chocolat, as autobiographical as the corpus gets, and more than two decades hence she’d return to film the majority of White Material, about which she’s long spoken in extremely intimate terms. Zero further word on what the film is,...

Claire Denis does not define herself as anyone’s protégé.
The “Both Sides of the Blade” director shut down a question posed by The Guardian asking what it was like to be a “protégé” of Jim Jarmusch, Wim Wenders, and Jacques Rivette, among Denis’ previous collaborators.
“Protégé! It’s insulting,” Denis replied. “What a vision of women you have. It’s so disgusting to say things like that. Would you use that word for a man?”
She continued, “I was working as an assistant director. I made my own way and was paying my own rent. They chose me because I was good at my job.”
Denis made her feature directorial debut with 1988’s “Chocolat.” Despite her decades in the film industry, the French auteur admitted she is still fearful of filmmaking “all the time.”
“Everything about filmmaking is frightening,” Denis said. “I’m scared before about making a bad movie,...

Choose your words carefully with France’s most brilliant – and formidable – film director, as she discusses being bourgeois, Harvey Weinstein, and her latest movie, Stars at Noon
My first glimpse of Claire Denis is of a slight, elegant figure dressed in white slipping out of a black limousine that fills the narrow street outside the hotel where our rendezvous is scheduled. For an instant, I feel as if I have been sucked into the menacing world of her latest film. I have just travelled to Paris to interview her, and have arrived early because I am anxious not to waste a minute of the 45 I have been granted to investigate the extraordinary career of a French director idolised by peers such as Barry Jenkins, Charlotte Wells, Andrea Arnold and Pedro Almodóvar and whose work is a fixture of critics’ lists of the best movies ever made.
At 77, Denis is a formidable presence.

Tim's ex-wife, Isabel, returned to The Rookie Season 5 Episode 20 and needed help from Lucy.
Our TV Fanatics, Denis, Jasmine, and Christine, are here to debate Isabel's visit, if Tim is really okay with Lucy going undercover long-term, the return of Skip Tracer Randy, and more!
And was Bailey binge-drinking with her college friend good fun or a stupid waste of time? Read on to find out.
Isabel and Lucy got to know one another. What did you think of their conversation? Were you surprised that it wasn't more focused on Tim?
Denis: I expected it to be more about Tim and Lucy as a couple and how Isabel's reappearance would affect them. I thought it was brilliant to have Isabel offer advice about undercover work instead of a dumb fight over a man. I wasn't surprised it wasn't more focused on Tim because I didn't expect it to be.
Jasmine:...

The posters in our forums are well-known all throughout Hollywood for their cheeky and incisive opinions. And like they do every year they did not hold back with their responses to the winners of this year’s Golden Globes film categories. Our reactions ranged from both excitement and anger over the big wins for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” to elation over the wins for Saoirse Ronan and Allison Janney.
Below, you can see just an overview of the shade and praise that was thrown at this year’s ceremony. Read more and have your say here.
Best Drama: “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”
MrGoodWood: I hope certain people on this forum heard these cheers for “Billboards” in that room.
Pj Edwards: Remember that time “La La Land” won 7 Globes and then lost Bp? Don’t get too comfy now.
Best Drama Actor: Gary Oldman, “Darkest Hour”

In beautiful Tinseltown, the users who post in our forums are both admired for the acclaim they bestow and feared for their vicious shade. When it came to this year’s TV categories at the Golden Globes hosted by Seth Meyers, they continued to hold nothing back, which you can view here. Reactions ranged from yawning over “no big shockers” to complaining about Sterling K. Brown being “overexposed.”
Below is just a taste of what was dished out over the ceremony’s duration. Read more and have your say here.
Best TV Drama Series: “The Handmaid’s Tale”
Noah Arlington: Can we just skip the TV awards?
Best TV Drama Actor: Sterling K. Brown, “This is Us”
Teridax: I had Sterling in 3rd. Emmy sheep or not, this still looks very bizarre to me. At least he was a deserving winner.
Pj Edwards: I’m already tired of Sterling K Brown.
