Time glides when you're having fun. The usual pièce de résistance of any Winter Olympic Games, women's figure skating, gets underway at last Feb. 15, with Karen Chen, Mariah Bell and Alysa Liu taking the ice in hopes of securing a medal for the United States in this event for the first time since 2006. So far Team USA has had a fairly dazzling showing at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, with 22-year-old powerhouse Nathan Chen earning the highest-ever men's score for his short program on his way to winning gold last week, the U.S. earning silver in the team event and the ice dancing pair of Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donahue adding bronze medals...

Leslie Jones's Olympic Games commentary is always a treat - and the 2022 Winter Games are no exception! However, following alleged pushback from NBC, Jones announced on Monday that she may have to stop her live narration. "i m starting to feel like this should be my last olympics i live tweet," she wrote of the Beijing Games. The comedian has been sharing videos of NBC's coverage - including her predictions of the scores of figure skaters, why she won't go skiing after watching the competitors, and more - since the Games kicked off on Feb. 4.
While announcing her departure from live commentary, Jones was seemingly referring to NBC as she wrote, "I'm tired of fighting the folks who don't want me to do it. They block my videos and they get folks who think they can do it like me. And I'm tired of fighting them. I love the...

Ivanka Trump led the U.S. delegation at the 2018 Winter Olympics closing ceremony in Pyeongchang, South Korea, on Sunday amid a three-day visit to the country — but not everyone was pleased by her appearance.
The U.S. delegation also included White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Gop Sen. James Risch of Idaho, Marc Knapper from the U.S. embassy in Seoul, and members of the military.
She was spotted sitting near President Moon- Jae-in in the Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium Sunday.
Vice President Mike Pence attended the Olympics opening ceremony, which did not sit well with the Winter Games’ first two openly gay U.

Mirai Nagasu would like to explain herself.
In less than two weeks at the 2018 Winter Olympics the 24-year-old American figure skater has competed through what she will readily admit was a draining experience, as full of previously unknown success as it was sharp disappointment.
“I think I’ve literally cried my way through these Olympic Games,” she tells People in an exclusive interview one day after her final performance in Gangneung, South Korea. “It’s been an experience that I will never forget.”

Figure skater Karen Chen opened up about her disappointing showing on Friday in the free skate program that left her far from the podium.
Chen, 18, says a problem with her boots during her previous day in practice likely contributed to her lackluster performance in the free skate.
“I am extremely disappointed, I’m not going to lie, I know I’ve trained myself to skate better than that and not being able to deliver is a huge let down for myself and everyone who supported me,” Chen, who trains out of Riverside, California, told reporters after the event. “To be honest,...

Twenty years ago, at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, Japan, two American women battled for the gold medal spot in the ladies’ singles competition: Tara Lipinski and Michelle Kwan.
As we know now, Lipinski ended up with gold and Kwan the silver. In 2002, it was much of the same: American Sarah Hughes took gold while Kwan won bronze. At the World Championships, too, American women dominated: From 1996 to 2006, there were only three years where an American woman didn’t land the top spot, and even then, the United States still had one (or even two) women on the podium.

The return of America to the Olympic podium in women’s figure skating won’t be for at least another four years. The three female U.S. skaters competing in the 2018 Winter Games finished on Friday no better than ninth.
It was, according to one longtime figure skating reporter, collectively the worst performance by the country’s women figure skaters — “ever.”
“I am extremely disappointed, I’m not going to lie,” Karen Chen told the press after her free skate in the final on Friday afternoon (Thursday night stateside).

U.S. figure skater Mirai Nagasu made history near the start of the 2018 Winter Olympics when she became the first American woman to land a triple axel jump at the Games — a move that helped lift Team USA to a bronze medal.
However, Nagasu will leave South Korea with two other Olympic skates behind her, both of lower quality than her work in that skating team event.
Despite those setbacks, she is already looking to the future.
“I smiled in the middle of my program, which is really rare for me. So I enjoyed myself and I thought of this...

Since the start of her career, 20-year-old Bradie Tennell has flown under the radar in the figure skating scene. But with a trail of high-scoring programs that most never predicted, Tennell has snagged a spot on the Winter Olympics figure skating team.
Officials with the U.S. Figure Skating international committee announced last month that Tennell has been placed on the 2018 Olympic team to compete in Pyeongchang, South Korea, alongside female American skaters Mirai Nagasu and Karen Chen.
Although she is an Olympics newbie, Tennell’s placement was no surprise after she dominated the women’s short program 2018 U.S.

When figure skater Karen Chen takes the ice in her first Olympics in Pyeongchang this week, she’ll have a very famous fan cheering her on back home: 1992 gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi.
A native of Fremont, California, 18-year-old Chen hails from the same city as Yamaguchi. They first met almost six years ago, when Chen was 12 years old, and since then Yamaguchi has become her mentor.
It wasn’t long after they met that Yamaguchi, a Milk Life partner, says she saw the potential for greatness in the young skater. And now, she says that Chen has it all to succeed in the sport.

Though he improved on his total score, earning an 82.27 compared to an 80.61 for his short program last week in the figure skating team event, he fell twice and slipped almost from the start.

Figure skaters Nathan Chen, Adam Rippon and Vincent Zhou were named to Team USA for the 2018 Winter Olympics next month in South Korea, officials announced on Sunday.
The selection came soon after the end of the men’s singles competition at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, where Chen — a phenomenally physically gifted 18-year-old skater — dominated his competitors, earning first place by a wide margin.
Zhou, 17, came in third. Rippon, 28, who was an alternate for Team USA at the 2010 Games, came in fourth.
Ross Miner, 26, came in second but was not chosen to head to Pyeongchang — a nod to Rippon’s stronger overall season.
