Hussain is a screenwriter and lyricist who gained wide recognition for his spoken word poem titled, 'Hindustani Musalmaan'. He has written lyrics for Hindi films and series like Gurgaon, Qarib Qarib Single, Mukkabaaz, Taish, Sherni, Dobaara and Soup. For the film Mukkabaaz, Hussain wrote seven out of ten songs, and two of his songs, 'Bahut Hua Sammaan' and 'Chhipkali', were widely appreciated. Hussain has written the title song for the Amazon web series, Chacha Vidhayak Hain Humare, the music for which was composed by Vishal Dadlani. He was the lyricist on TVF Tripling: Season 2 and received much praise for the song 'Ishq Ka Haafiz'. As a screenwriter, he has worked on the popular Amazon show Laakhon Mein Ek. He co-wrote Madhyantar based on Kannada writer Jayant Kaikini's short story for the Ankahi Kahaniya anthology directed by Abhishek Chaubey. Hussain has written the dialogues for Karan Johar's upcoming period drama film Takht and Aparna Sen's award-winning film The Rapist. Most recently, Hussain wrote the dialogues for the drama film Pyali. He is currently working on two shows for Amazon Prime, one in the capacity of a writer and the second as a dialogue writer on season 2 of a popular show.
