Chicago – Playing video games is one of the single most infuriating experiences that I continue to put myself through. One of my few masochistic traits emerge whenever I boot up my PC or PS4 …
and that’s because I always feel the need to play every game on the most difficult setting. This leads to a seemingly endless cycle of fighting, killing, dying, and then starting all over and trying again.

Einstein said it best when he gave us his definition of what constitutes “insanity,” and if he were alive today he would likely diagnose my attempt to beat any Dark Souls game on the hardest difficulty as just that. There’s a great level of satisfaction in beating that cycle and reaching the end, which is something video game-influenced film Free Guy knows a thing or two about.

The Summer season is “fun and games” time at the local multiplex. Oh, but you’re thinking, “Isn’t it always”. Well, sure many still have big arcade areas around their entrances. Yes, but we’re talking about the content on the individual screens. And, after a year trying to entertain ourselves at home, the reopening (hopefully) studio flicks are reflecting much of that “home content”. As usual (in the “fun” category) we’re seeing the comic book-based blockbusters with recent entries The Suicide Squad and Black Widow from several weeks ago (but still on the entertainment page). and a big flick was actually based on a toy, as the action figure Snake Eyes emerged from the decades-long GI Joe toy franchise.

It looks like Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) is going to take a break from directing and appear in Ryan Reynolds‘ upcoming film Free Guy, which is being directed by Stranger Things producer and director Shawn Levy. It’s also reported that Utkarsh Ambudkar has also joined the film.
The story centers around a bank teller (Reynolds) “stuck in his routine discovers he’s a background character in a rather brutal open world, action-adventure video game and he is the only one capable of saving his world.” It’s also said the film is in the vein of The Truman Show.
There’s no information on who Waititi is playing, but he will join the previously cast Jodie Comer, Joe Kerry and Lil Rel.
I love the concept. This could end up being an incredibly fun movie, especially with a cast like Reynolds and Waititi. I hope that they share a lot of screen time together!

Levy will take the helm on the Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn script which also has a cast of Jodie Comer, Joe Kerry and Lil Rel.

Reynolds will be producing the picture alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Adam Kolbrenner.

Will we ever get sick of Taika Waititi popping up in stuff? The answer is no.
Thor: Ragnarok helmer Taika Waititi is becoming one of the busiest men around. Not only is his directing career going rather smashingly, but he's now an actor in demand, too.
News broke this week via Deadline that Waititi is joining the cast of Free Guy, a Ryan Reynolds comedy vehicle from Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy about a humble bank teller who realizes he's just one player inside a massive, violent, open-world video game. You may remember Reynolds flirted with this genre a little previously in 2007's little-seen The Nines opposite Melissa McCarthy. Time for a do-over!
Free Guy has been written by Zak Penn (Ready Player One) and Matt Liberman (The Christmas Chronicles), and Waititi is signing up to an already-burgeoning cast here that includes Jodie Comer, Joe Kerry,...

Who doesn’t like a well-thrown hissy fit – besides, of course, the person on the receiving end? That is why a category dedicated to the art of losing your cool has been a staple of the Teen Choice Awards ever since the show debuted in 1999. Starting last year, the nominated blow-ups now include those seen on TV series (like “Riverdale”) along with films (like “Deadpool”).

Ahoy! Hawkins, Indiana is getting a mall in the third season of Stranger Things! A fun retro promo video for it was recently shared on Twitter and it shows off all the totally awesome things that you can do at the Starcourt Mall! I imagine this will be one of the main settings for the upcoming season.
The trailer also gives us our first look at Maya Hawke's character Robin who works at the Scoops Ahoy ice cream shop with Steve (Joe Kerry).
Robin is described as an "alternative girl who is equal parts sharp and playful. Bored with her mundane day job, she just wants a little excitement in her life… and gets more than she bargained for when she uncovers a dark secret in Hawkins."
We don't know much about the plot of Season 3, but Shawn Levy previously revealed that the third season would take place one year after the second season,...
