The California dad charged with helping his teen son plot what turned into the deadly armed robbery of rapper PnB Rock failed to get his murder charges dropped Friday with arguments including one that suggested the son may have fired out of “fear.”
At a morning hearing in Compton, Calif., a judge said that while much of the evidence against Freddie Trone, 42, is circumstantial, she found a “reasonable basis” to conclude Trone held a position of “influence” over his 17-year-old son and knew he possessed a gun when he walked...

Joey Bada is urging rappers to put an end to messages that may result in lethal actions, causing their own death or the demise of others.
The New York rapper made the powerful statement during his performance at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards. While taking the stage for his track “Head High” off his 2000 album, Bada assembled a line of 12 backup dancers who each repped a hoodie embroidered with a rapper’s name. They were arranged in chronological order based on the rappers’ deaths, which ranged from 1987 to last month.

Friday marked a big win for artists in California.
The state Governor Gavin Newsom signed The Decriminalizing Artistic Expression Act, a new law that will restrict California courts from using rap lyrics as evidence in criminal cases.
The landmark lesiglastion comes after the Calif. Senate and Assembly unanimously approved the bill Ab 2799 in August.
“Artists of all kinds should be able to create without the fear of unfair and prejudicial prosecution,” Newsom said of the move. “California’s culture and entertainment industry set trends around the world and it’s fitting that our state is taking a nation-leading role to protect creative expression and ensure that artists are not criminalized under biased policies.”

Ed Sheeran has pledged his support for the Music Venue Trust’s (Mvt) Own Our Venues initiative.
Own Our Venues is a long term campaign which launched in June. It aims to intervene to help take ownership on some of the UK’s Grassroot venues.
The plan hopes to take control of the freeholds of these venues across the country and put them under a protected status of benevolent ownership.
“Own Our Venues is an initiative I’m really passionate about getting behind,” Sheeran said of the scheme, which hopes to raise an initial £3.5m by the end of 2022.
“Small, independent venues are so, so important to the music community, and I’ve played some of my favourite gigs of my career in these rooms.
“We’ve got to do all we can to protect these beautiful venues that we’ve all come to love for years to come.”

"It's so common," he said in an interview with DJ Akademiks recorded a week and a half before his death, adding that "I never got robbed. Ever in my life." He went on to say, "I ain't gon' say never. Spears, who has changed her Instagram profile name to Channel 8, posted a quote in a new Instagram post on Monday (12 September) that read: “I found out there was only one way to look thin: hang out with fat people.”
In the caption, Spears said she wished she could have chosen her own backup dancers for live performances and called them “the nannies for my children”.
“I mean if I had Christina Aguilera’s dancers I would have looked extremely small… I mean why not talk about it ??” she wrote, in an apparent dig at the “Beautiful” singer’s body.
She continued: “Don’t you think my confidence would have been a bit better if I could choose where I lived, ate, whom I called on the phone,...

Ed Sheeran’s new album, No.6 Collaborations Project, feels like a game of musical Mad Libs. 22 guest vocalists are spread, seemingly at random, across 15 tracks that riff through styles — lead-footed southern rock and featherweight acoustic balladry, lithe R&b and a clumsy homage to Aftermath Entertainment, Latin pop and willowy dancehall — like socialites on a shopping spree.
Sheeran has presented the new album as a return to the freedom of his pre-major-label days, before legal red-tape and commercial pressure made collaborations more complicated. Back then, “I made an eight-track Ep called No.

Ed Sheeran’s new album No.6 Collaborations Project has arrived and with it a music video for “Antisocial,” his joint track with Travis Scott. The slightly bonkers clip, directed by Dave Meyers and written by Matt Walton, sees Sheeran embodying numerous characters, with numerous wigs. Movie references abound, including a particularly horrifying moment where Scott plays the title character of Edward Scissorhands as a dentist. At the end of the video, Sheeran and Scott find themselves in a diner, with Sheeran begging for the last French fry.

Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, and Chris Stapleton's new song "Blow" is a head-banging rock anthem that seems to have been specifically engineered for people to blast out of speakers all Summer long. As expected, the music video that accompanies the recently released track off of Sheeran's No.6 Collaborations Project is just as high energy.
Just like in the video for "Beautiful People," Sheeran and his A-list collaborators don't actually appear. Instead three hard-rocking female musicians take center stage at the Viper Room in La as they lip-sync to the track. The music video, which was actually directed by Mars, will give you '70s rock vibes in no time.
There are only a few days to go until Sheeran's new album drops on July 12. The LP includes a stacked list of featured artists, some of which we've already heard in the singer-songwriter's other new singles, like "I Don't Care...

The phrases “Ed Sheeran” and “hard rock anthem” wouldn’t seem to go together, but the sensitive balladeer has channeled his inner rock god on his new single “Blow.” The song brings him together with Chris Stapleton and Bruno Mars, who themselves are a couple of strange musical bedfellows for a collaboration like this. But the three are actually nowhere to be found in the music video, which was released on July 8. Watch it above.
The hard-charging song includes sexy come-ons like “You make me wanna make a baby” and “Tell me, what’s your fantasy?” but the men themselves yield the floor to a trio of women who stand in for them on the stage of the Viper Room: Cherish Waters as Sheeran, Jordan Kelly DeBarge as Stapleton and Cheyenne Haynes as Mars. The video was also directed by Mars, who previously channeled a different era with his 1990s-inflected “Finesse” video,...

Ed Sheeran has embraced the rock ‘n’ roll vibe of his recent track “Blow,” which features Bruno Mars and Chris Stapleton. The music video for the song, directed by Mars himself, showcases an all-female rock band taking over the stage at Los Angeles venue the Viper Room.
Sheeran, Mars and Stapleton don’t appear in the clip. Instead, former America’s Next Top Model contestant (and fellow redhead) Cherish Waters leads the girl group, performing the song on Sheeran’s behalf while a crowd of fans head bangs and rocks out in the audience.

Ed Sheeran‘s new album “No. 6 Collaborations Project” doesn’t drop until July 12, but he has already released a third single in advance of its release. And there’s a new video to go along with it. On “Beautiful People” he teams up with R&b star Khalid to sing about the finer things in life — and how they’d really just prefer the ordinary things in life. Watch the video above.
“We don’t fit in well / ‘Cause we are just ourselves,” he sings. “This is my only fear / That we become / Beautiful people / Drop-top, designer clothes / Front row at fashion shows / … That’s not who we are.” I mean, Sheeran and Khalid seem to be doing quite well for themselves, so that kind of is who they are, materially at least, which may be way they hardly even show up in the video. Ed Sheeran and Khalid have teamed up for new song “Beautiful People.” The song will appear on Sheeran’s forthcoming No.6 Collaborations Project, which will be released on July 12th.
The tune is about remaining true to yourself and not trying to become one of those so-called “beautiful people” obsessed with material things and stature. It opens with pretty vocal harmonies: “We are, we are, we are” floats over a winsome melody and handclap-enhanced rhythms. Sheeran and Khalid each sing a verse about uncomfortable social situations, where a person can feel “surrounded but still alone.

The 2019 edition of the Bet Awards doubled as a celebration of late rapper Nipsey Hussle, who was killed in March outside of his Marathon clothing store in Los Angeles. In honor of the man affectionately known as “Nip,” the carpet was colored blue.
“The marathon continues” was a common refrain on the carpet (as seen on the back of Yg’s jacket) and beyond.
In fact, Hussle performed on the BET Awards just last year. Speaking to Variety, Bet Networks President Scott M. Mills said: “Nipsey is such an important part of our community, in particular the fact that he focused on servicing his community, staying in his community, and trying to uplift the community he was a part of. We see that nature of his really resonated deeply with the African American community and culture. We really wanted to recognize him here in L.A. for the Bet Awards.
