Tony Award winner J. Harrison Ghee will be out of the musical Some Like It Hot for the next six weeks.
The actor, who won a 2023 Tony Award for their portrayal of Jerry/Daphne in the musical, will take a break from the show as they undergo surgery “to address some issues that have arisen,” over a time span that they say could last “at least” six weeks. Ghee, who uses he/they pronouns, announced the news on Instagram, which was confirmed by the production, and encouraged audience members to come see their understudy DeMarius Copes in the interim.
“I’m Ok. I will be Ok. I am so at peace and grateful for this moment of restoration, of healing to come,” Ghee said on Instagram. “And I hope that you will continue to support the incredible cast of Some Like It Hot at the Shubert Theatre and go see the incredible DeMarius Copes,...

"A lot of people feel like us." Universal has revealed the first official trailer for the feature film adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen, a Tony-award winning musical that was a major success on Broadway, after first premiering in 2015. The story follows an anxious, isolated high school senior aching for understanding and belonging amid the chaos and cruelty of the "social media age" following the suicide of a fellow classmate. Ben Platt returns from the original stage musical to star as Evan Hansen, with a magnificent ensemble cast including Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, Kaitlyn Dever, Amandla Stenberg, Nik Dodani, Danny Pino, Colton Ryan, and DeMarius Copes. Featuring all the Grammy winning songs: the iconic anthem "You Will Be Found," "Waving Through a Window," "For Forever," and "Words Fail." This was a Huge hit on Broadway when it was playing, and this movie looks quite good. Telling an important story through song.

The Tony Award-winning Dear Evan Hansen will return to Broadway’s Music Box Theatre on December 11, five years after its original opening and 21 months after it, along with all other Broadway productions, shut down due to the Covid pandemic.
The return was announced by producer producer Stacey Mindich, who also said that two other productions of the musical – a North American tour and at the Noël Coward Theatre in London – also will resume performances this Fall. The London staging returns October 26, and the tour relaunches on December 7 in Greensboro, North Carolina before visiting more than 30 cities across the US and Canada.
“It’s a remarkable feeling to put plans in place to relaunch all three Dear Evan Hansen companies, though we, like everyone in the theater industry, are facing considerable challenges,” Mindich said in a statement. “We will proceed safely and smartly to ensure a safe and equitable workplace for everyone when we return,...

Actor Ben Platt took to Twitter to reveal that he suffered through a bout of Covid-19 early this year in March.
The Tony Award-winning actor responded to a tweet posted by graphic designer Ced Funches, who asked “Do you personally know anyone that has contracted Covid-19? No names, just yes or no.”
The tweet caught the attention of many including Platt who replied, “Me. it was like an awful flu that lingered for 3 weeks or so. thankfully made a full recovery. so many haven’t been as lucky and will continue not to be.”
He continued, “I’m totally fine now you sweet bb’s keep distancing and masking!”
Platt kept this under wraps and this is the first time he has revealed his bout with Covid-19 publicly. Naturally, his fans were very happy he was okay and that he recovered.
