Sunday night during the Top 3 performance episode of “American Idol,” 17-year-old Catie Turner made a triumphant return to the stage after being eliminated two weeks ago. The quirky singer performed her original song “21st Century Machine,” which went viral after her initial audition, in front of the live studio audience and judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. It was part of a medley of original tunes from eliminated artists, including Jonny Brenns (“Blue Jeans”), Harper Grace (“Yard Sale”) and Michelle Sussett (“I’m a Dreamer”). It's no secret that Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift are not the best of friends anymore. However, fans are convinced Demi gave her fellow pop star some major side-eye during Shawn Mendes' performance at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards — and the moment was captured on camera. In a three-second clip, Demi seemingly turns her head in Taylor's direction, where she is dancing with Bff Camila Cabello, before turning back to the stage and flipping her hair. Tbh, if that's not shade, we don't know what is. Watch the video above to see Demi's shady look seemingly aimed at T-Swift. Demi wasn't the only celebrity guest in attendance who was not impressed with Taylor's dance moves. Glee star Darren Criss tweeted about his obstructed view thanks to the "Shake it Off" singer. The winner of season 16 of “American Idol” will be revealed at the end of the May 21 results show. The three finalists are Gabby Barrett, Caleb Lee Hutchinson and Maddie Poppe. They will open the two-hour telecast with a performance of “Meant to Be” with Bebe Rexha. This marks a return to “idol” for Rexha. She had been a mentor to the Top 24 and done a duet then with Hutchinson on this song, which was a big hit for her and Florida Georgia Line last year.
Each of the finalists will also get a chance to shine in a duet on Monday’s show with the original artists. Hutchinson is slated to sing “Wagon Wheel” with Darius Rucker. Poppe will perform the Oscar-nominated “Rainbow Connection” with Kermit the Frog. And Barrett will join with “Idol” judge Luke Bryan on “Most People Are Good.”

Sorry, Katy Perry. It looks like Cade Foehner is off the market. The American Idol singer performed an emotional rendition of The Little Mermaid's "Kiss the Girl" on tonight's Disney-themed night — and it was pretty obvious he had a certain girl on his mind. When asked by host Ryan Seacrest if he there was someone in particular he was thinking about during the performance, Cade responded, "Possibly." The camera quickly panned over to fellow competitor and singer Gabby Barrett, who was covering her face backstage. "I thought I saw someone in the lounge paying very close attention," Ryan added. Obviously, this did not sit well with Katy, who has had a crush on the rocker since his very first audition. "How long has this been going on?" Katy, dressed as Snow White, asked before jokingly attempting to flip over the judges' table. Let's just say we have a...

For the first time in American Idol history, the reality singing competition had a Disney-themed night. To mark the occassion, Katy Perry decided to dress as the first Disney princess ever — Snow White. Wearing a black wig, glittery red lipstick, and the iconic yellow, red, and blue costume, Katy transformed into the animated royal, all that was missing was her gang of dwarves. Unless you count fellow judges Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and host Ryan Seacrest. However, she would still be four squad members short. And she stayed in character through Maddie Poppe's kick-off performance of "Bare Neccessities" calling her "sweetie" and congratulating her on her "bravery" in Snow White's high-pitched voice. American Idol has revealed which iconic tunes the Top 10 will tackle on Disney Night this Sunday (ABC, 8/7c), and although Ada Vox isn’t singing “Poor Unfortunate Souls” like I hoped, we’ve still got a pretty solid evening of classics ahead of us.
As originally posted to Oh My Disney, here’s a full rundown of who’s singing what:
* Michael J. Woodard: “Beauty and the Beast” (Beauty and the Beast)
* Catie Turner: “Once Upon a Dream” (Sleeping Beauty)
* Jurnee: “How Far I’ll Go” (Moana)
* Ada Vox: “Circle of Life” (The Lion King)

When Katy Perry removed her earrings, all bets were off. The superstar “American Idol” judge was not happy that drag queen Ada Vox failed to earn America’s vote on Monday’s results show, so she took it upon herself to make things right. “I think we do know talent when we see it,” said a defiant Katy as her co-judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie nodded in approval. “So I would say, we would like to make an executive decision right now. Ada? You get that seat, baby,” Katy declared, referring to one of the open chairs in the Top 10. Watch the viral moment above.

The first cuts made by voters on Monday night’s (April 23) “American Idol” were the deepest — and most shocking — as the Top 14 was pared to 10, with six singers sailing to safety and eight left to perform for the judges’ wildcard pick.
The brand new “American Idol” stage — which looks fabulous and massive in scale — is divided into two areas with six chairs designated for safety and eight in the “danger zone,” explained host Ryan Seacrest. Next week it is going to be even more interesting, as Seacrest revealed the show is making reality history by allowing all 50 states to vote in real time next Sunday for its Disney-themed night with Idina Menzel. Despite the new surroundings, Seacrest looked comfortable in familiar territory as he revealed the fate of each singer.
First through was Maddie Poppe, who impressed with her glistening interpretation of Simon and Garfunkel’s “Homeward Bound” the night before.

The Monday April 23 episode of the ABC revival of “American Idol” saw the Top 14 reduced to the Top 10. Six of the singers continuing on in the show — Gabby Barrett, Cade Foehner, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Maddie Poppe, Catie Turner and Michael J. Woodard — learnt that they numbered among America’s favorites and earned places in the Top 10 based on their performances on Sunday’s show.
The other eight contestants were told by host Ryan Seacrest that the three judges — Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie — would choose just four of them to move forward in the competition based on the songs that they sung on Monday’s show. The four artists that the panel put through to the Top 10 were: Dennis Lorenzo, Jurnee Siani, Michelle Sussett and Ada Vox.

And then there were 10.
Following Sunday’s first “live” episode of American Idol, Monday’s actual first live (no quotation marks!) episode eliminated four more hopefuls from the competition: Marcio Donaldson, Mara Justine, Jonny Brenns and Garrett Jacobs.
That means Season 16’s official Top 10 is: Maddie Poppe, Cade Foehner, Gabby Barrett, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Michael J. Woodard, Catie Turner, Ada Vox, Jurnee, Michelle Sussett and Dennis Lorenzo. (Those last four singers were hand-saved by the judges.)

Is Gabby Barrett going to be the next American Idol? The aspiring singer just gave the stand-out performance of her entire American Idol journey thus far during last night's episode and fans are positive that it will earn her a spot in the Top 10! Gabby sang an impressive cover of Miley Cyrus' 2009 hit "The Climb," which earned her a standing ovation from judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie — and they all agreed that it helped push her to become a Season 16 frontrunner. Luke had to clear his throat before he gave Gabby his comments, because he got choked up after her performance. "That was my favorite vocal situation of the night by the way," he told her. "And for the first time, I feel like you’re not playing around anymore. You’re out to get the whole thing done." Katy also gushed over the 18-year-old's performance,...

Double take! American Idol fans are convinced contestant Michelle Sussett is Demi Lovato's doppelgänger. Viewers are comparing the 21-year-old to the "Skyscraper" singer — and honestly, the resemblance is uncanny. Seriously, you won't be able to unsee it. "Yes, so proud of Michelle!!! ‘American Idol’ recap: Top 14 sing for America’s votes on Night 13 of Season 16 [Updating Live Blog]
Six weeks after the revival of “American Idol” hosted by Ryan Seacrest began on ABC, America finally gets a chance to vote as the Top 14 take to the stage on the April 22 episode. These finalists survived a grueling process that began with winning over the three judges — Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie — at a regional audition and getting a ticket to Hollywood.
A whopping 169 would-be winners made the trip to La La Land, before being cut to 50. That group then competed both individually and in groups before the judges decided on the Top 24. Those two dozen artists were then asked to sing both solo and in duets with celebrities and convince the three judges that they deserved a place in the Top 14.

If “American Idol” finalist Mara Justine looks familiar, it’s because she previously auditioned for rival reality TV show “America’s Got Talent.” Back in the ninth season of “Agt” in 2014, Mara was only 11 years old but she still wowed judges Howie Mandel, Howard Stern, Mel B and Heidi Klum with her booming voice. As someone who [A] willingly watched Glee until the bitter end, and has seen Wicked enough times that I’ve started wondering what the Wicked Witch’s talking-goat teacher does after hours, I was embarrassingly excited for Monday’s American Idol.
