On Monday, The Voice’s Season 24 Blind Auditions hit a high note — like, a Mariah Carey whistle note, that high. But the singer who delivered such an ear-opener to coaches John Legend, Gwen Stefani, Niall Horan and Reba McEntire wasn’t the night’s only standout. Read on, and after we discuss all of the contestants who advanced to the Battles, you can vote for your favorite.

As The Voice’s Season 19 Blind Auditions continued Monday, two contestants made a big impression — one by demonstrating the vocal prowess of someone twice (three times?) his age, the other by outdoing Kelly Clarkson on one of her own songs. And if you read on, we’ll go over not only their tryouts but that of a would be rasp-kicker whose chance to join Team John Legend was thwarted by Gwen Stefani’s Block.

It seems like only yesterday that The Voice’s red swivel chairs began turning for Season 18’s Blind Auditions. And yet already — Ok, 10 weeks and a pandemic later — the finale is almost upon us.

Early on in Monday’s Season 18 premiere of The Voice, veteran coach Blake Shelton playfully grumbled, “This is gonna be a long season.” And, as bummed as I still was over the outcome of Season 17 — Jake Hoot’s fine, but Katie Kadan and Rose Short were great — I suspected he was right. But doggonit, no sooner had the Blind Auditions gotten underway, with Nick Jonas joining Blake, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend in the iconic swivel chairs, than I was, as always, sucked right back in. It probably didn’t hurt that all eight of the singers advancing to the...

Tuesday’s episode of The Voice led seven contestants straight to a dead end on the path to victory as the Top 20 was whittled down to the Top 13. Based on your votes in Monday’s TVLine poll, Team Legend’s Katie Kadan was looking about as safe as safe could be (with teammates Marybeth Byrd and Will Breman, and Team Kelly’s Max Boyle also polling especially well).

Sharpen the axe! Ahead of a dozen (!) eliminations Tuesday, the 24 remaining contestants on The Voice all performed Monday night in hopes of continuing on to Maelyn Jarmon’s coronation as the winner of Season 16 the Top 12 (well, 13, since next Monday, the show will be adding to the mix the winner of The Comeback Stage). NBC’s promo for the conclusion of The Voice’s Season 16 Blind Auditions promised us that the best had been saved for last. But a) hasn’t every promo in the history of promos insisted that what’s coming next will be the best, and b) could there really have been contestants waiting in the wings that were better than four-chair-turners like Team John Legend’s Shawn Sounds and Maelyn Jarmon? Read on, and as we review the evening’s performances — including one by Red Marlow’s nephew, Jackson — we’ll decide whether we were right to disbelieve the hype.

Season 16 had thus far sent to the Battles some promising male soul singers (Matthew Johnson, Lb Crew and Domenic Haynes). But where was the Kennedy Holmes of this go-’round? The Kyla Jade? Was Kim Cherry destined to be the lone woman in the R&B lane? Or were others going to be introduced Monday? For that matter, where was the rock dude who could out-Wilkes Season 14’s Wilkes?...

Curious. In Monday’s Season 15 premiere of The Voice, not a single shoe was thrown. In fact, aside from a little shade now and again, the coaches didn’t throw anything at all. A coupla weeks ago, I would’ve said that I was looking forward to the Finals of The Voice an extra lot in Season 14 because I really couldn’t predict who’d win. The 14th champion of “The Voice” is set to be crowned on Tuesday, May 22 but according to our latest Gold Derby odds, it may not be the artist most fans were expecting. Team Alicia Keys‘ Britton Buchanan has been the favorite to take home the grand prize throughout most of the season, but things were shaken up during the Tuesday, May 15 live results show. The frontrunner hit a major roadblock when he failed to earn enough votes to yield a Top 3 finish, forcing him to battle it out for the final Instant Save of the season. Since the Instant Save made its debut in Season 6, no artist advancing to the finale by this method has ever won “The Voice.” In fact, they all finished in last place in their finales.

With the elimination of Pryor Baird, Jackie Foster, Rayshun Lamarr and Kaleb Lee on Tuesday’s episode of “The Voice,” only four artists remain in contention to win season 14. Of the four coaches, only Blake Shelton has two acts in the final: Spensha Baker and Kyla Jade. Kelly Clarkson and Alicia Keys have one apiece with Brynn Cartelli and Britton Buchanan respectively. The fourth coach, Adam Levine, is without an act in the two-part final that kicks off on May 21.

Six of the eight artists still in the running on “The Voice” saw their performance on Monday’s show make the top 10 on iTunes as of noon on Tuesday. That means each will get the benefit of the vote multiplier. That should help them avoid being in the bottom two, who will be eliminated right away when Carson Daly reveals the results on the May 15 episode.
That dubious distinction is likely to go to Jackie Foster and Rayshun Lamarr. Neither of these artists saw their tracks do well in the overnight sales figures from iTunes. Lamarr, who has had to sing for survival for two of the past three weeks, only sold enough of his version of John Lennon‘s classic “Imagine” to make it to #36. Foster foundered with her cover of Whitesnake‘s “Here I Go Again,” moving only enough units to get to #48.

Ahead of Monday’s Season 14 Semi-Finals of The Voice, I was feeling pretty confident that I already knew which singers would be making up the Final Four: Team Blake’s Pryor Baird and Kyla Jade, Team Alicia’s Britton Buchanan and Team Kelly’s Brynn Cartelli. On the May 14 episode of “The Voice,” the Top 8 will take to the stage to sing for America’s votes. The goal of each artist is to make it into the top 10 of iTunes by noon on Tuesday in order to reap the benefits of the vote multiplier. The three contestants with the highest vote totals as revealed by Carson Daly on Tuesday’s show are guaranteed a spot in next week’s finals. The two acts with the lowest tallies are automatically eliminated. The three in the middle of the leaderboard will sing once more in the hopes of winning the one remaining slot via the Instant Save.
Of the four coaches, only Blake Shelton still has all three of the artists that he brought to this stage of the competition. Kelly Clarkson and Alicia Keys are down to two apiece while Adam Levine has only one contestant still standing.

Season 14 of “The Voice” is coming to an end with just eight artists still in the running. Of the four coaches, only Blake Shelton still has all three of the artists that he brought to this stage of the competition. Kelly Clarkson and Alicia Keys are down to two apiece while Adam Levine has only one contestant still standing. In advance of the Top 8 performing on May 14, we asked viewers of “The Voice” who they thought would win.
Only two of these eight artists registered more than 20% support in our poll: Britton Buchanan of Team Alicia Keys is in the lead with 26% while Pryor Baird of Team Blake Shelton is right behind at 25%.
Two other artists — Brynn Cartelli from Team Kelly Clarkson and Baird’s teammate Kyla Jade — have the backing of 19% and 14% of viewers respectively. None of the other contestants in the Top 8 broke into the double digits and...

Get ready for a battle of “American Idol” alumni on this fall’s edition of “The Voice.” The NBC reality competition series confirmed that Jennifer Hudson, who finished in seventh on “Idol” back in 2004, will be returning to the panel for the 15th season of this Emmy winner. She will join the original 2002 “Idol” champ Kelly Clarkson, who debuted as a coach on the current season of “The Voice,” as well as both Blake Shelton and Adam Levine who have been with the show from the start.
Hudson was unlucky in her debut as a coach on “The Voice” in season 13 last fall, just missing out on a place in the final. As of this writing, Clarkson still has two artists in the Top 8: Brynn Cartelli and Kaleb Lee. Both women have said that their experiences on “Idol” makes them better mentors than Shelton or Levine.

On the May 8 live results show of “The Voice,” the bottom three vote getters among the Top 10 artists were, as we predicted, Christiana Danielle from Team Alicia Keys and both Rayshun Lamarr and Jackie Verna from Team Adam Levine. Each had to sing one more song to try and win votes cast by viewers via Twitter. Lamarr ended up winning the popular vote and avoided being eliminated. Was this the right decision? Vote in our poll below and sound off in the comments section.
Danielle was up first with the 1961 Ray Charles classic “Unchain My Heart.” As our live blogger Denton Davidson noted, “she shows off that delicious lower register of hers before breaking into the upbeat number.”
Verna then tackled the 1988 Randy Travis hit “I Told You So.” As Denton observes, “She hit a few bum notes but overall the song choice was brilliant and the fact that she...

Ok, so it turned out that the biggest challenge for viewers during The Voice’s Challenge Week was not laughing at what in a number of cases passed for challenges. (“I’ve never sung a song that started with the letter M before” — yeah, it was basically like that.) Nonetheless, Monday’s performances were still overall very good, I thought. Your comments begged to differ, but that’s the beauty of music, isn’t it? Two people can hear the same thing two completely different ways. At least I think we all agreed that Kelly Clarkson served a dazzling reminder...

We can report that four of the acts registered enough sales to earned this bonus: Kyla Jade with her show-stopper “This Is Me” by Keala Settle; Brynn Cartelli for her cover of the Coldplay hit “Fix You”; Britton Buchanan for his rendition of “What’s Love Got to Do with It” by Tina Turner; and Pryor Baird with his version of “My Town” by Montgomery Gentry.

Britton Buchanan is one of the front-runners to win season 14 of “The Voice.” This student from Sanford, North Carolina just turned 18. That’s about half the age of his nearest rival, 35-year-old Nashville musician Pryor Baird. Buchanan has sung seven songs to date on this reality competition series. Which of these has been your favorite so far? Vote in our poll below and then sound off in our comments section with your thoughts on this edition of “The Voice.”
Do you think that Buchanan was best with the tune he performed on the May 7 episode: “What’s Love Got to Do with It” by Tina Turner. Or do you prefer his first time in the spotlight when he won over all the coaches except Kelly Clarkson with his version of “Trouble” by Ray Lamontagne? Perhaps you favor one of the five other songs he has sung in the competition so far.

Monday night on “The Voice,” country singer Spensha Baker represented Team Blake Shelton during the live Top 10 episode of Season 14. For Challenge Week, Spensha decided to take on Taylor Swift‘s pop song “Red” because it reminded her of the time she had a promising gospel career and then it disappeared overnight. Do You think that Spensha will advance to the next round on NBC’s reality TV singing competition? Watch “The Voice” performance video above.

The Top 10 artists on “The Voice” sang one song each on the two-hour episode on Monday May 7. The goal for each of these would-be winners of season 14 is to make it into the top 10 on iTunes by Tuesday morning so that they can reap the benefit of a vote multiplier. The bottom two vote-getters as revealed by host Carson Daly will have to sing for the Instant Save on Tuesday’s show.
That is what happened last week to Sharane Calister and Christiana Danielle from Teams Adam Levine and Alicia Keys respectively. Each had to sing one more song to try and win votes cast by viewers via Twitter. Calister was up first and tackled the 2008 song “If I Were a Boy,” which was a top 10 hit for Beyonce. Danielle then won over viewers with her version of “A Thousand Years,” the Christina Perri song from the first film in the “Twlight” franchise.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda. How often The Voice’s Season 14 coaches must be muttering those three words as the remaining members of their teams prepare to perform again on Monday (NBC, 9/8c).
It isn’t that there’s not tremendous talent in the Top 10 — there is.
