San Francisco, June 15 (Ians) Twitter-owner Elon Musk on Thursday said that many Twitter workers feel insecure coming to work in downtown San Francisco and have had their car windows smashed.
Musk tweeted: “Many Twitter employees feel unsafe coming to work in downtown Sf and have had their car windows smashed.”
“They also got such a null response from the police that they rarely even bother reporting crimes anymore, because nothing happens,” he wrote.
Several users expressed their thoughts on Musk’s post.
While one user said, “Elon, bring Twitter to Florida,” another commented, “Then why did you make everyone stop working remotely lol.”
On June 11, the tech billionaire shared an incident and said that one of his friends experienced a shooting in San Francisco.

Whether he’s on his way to work or just rolling through his hometown of London, England, James Corden always makes time for a good ole carpool karaoke.
Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” performances may be what he’s most know for, having had notable talents from Usher, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande and more singing along in the passenger seat. “The Late Late Show with James Corden” host credits singer/songwriter George Michael as the inspiration behind the segment, as the late Wham! singer as his first “Carpool Karaoke” guest when they appeared in the skit back in 2011 for a British charity. In the skit, Michael and Corden sang several songs, which eventually gave Corden the idea to turn it into a portion on his show when the talk show debuted on March 23, 2015.

Melissa Gilbert ran for Congress in Michigan’s Eighth District in 2016. She ended up dropping out due to health issues, but she got far enough into the race to have her opponent’s team hit her with a smear campaign. Her Republican opponent, incumbent Mike Bishop, put out a statement calling Gilbert an IRS tax cheat. Here’s what the Little House on the Prairie alum says about the statement all these years later.

A project that’s reportedly been in gestation for 30 years, so long that Akira Kurosawa once expressed huge hopes for its success before he died, Kubi is a labor of love.
Billed in its press materials as “the latest film by Takeshi Kitano” but hopefully not the veteran director’s last, it marks Kitano’s return to the samurai genre for the first time since 2003’s Zatoichi (a.k.a. The Blind Swordsman). The latter did modestly solid business in its day for an international film, and it will be interesting to see if Kitano, practically a national treasure in Japan, still has the same pull across Asian territories as he used to, let alone across the Pacific and beyond.
But regardless of any box-office performance, this challenging, extremely violent, ravishing-looking, intricately plotted adaptation by Kitano of his novel is of interest for its fresh take on a musty genre.

Dolly Parton’s new song “World on Fire” is about as political as the Queen of Country gets. The song cries against politicians who can’t be trusted and calls for peace across party lines. Let’s take a closer look at the meaning of the song reflected against the country superstar’s past political statements.
Dolly Parton | Rick Kern/FilmMagic
“World on Fire” is on Parton’s new rock album, Rockstar. While she famously stays out of all things political, the song is a reflection on the current state of contentious American politics.
“Liar, liar the world’s on fire/ Whatcha gonna do when it all burns down?” The song begins.
The next line is perhaps the closest thing we’ll get to a comment about climate change from the singer: “Fire, fire burning higher/ Still got time to turn it all around.” But it’s not explicit. Just...

Entourage creator Doug Ellin went full Ari Gold on a writer who posted an essay declaring that the HBO comedy series will be re-edited to reflect modern sensibilities (à la Roald Dahl and Agatha Christie’s books).
There’s just one thing: The essay was satire, which Ellin apparently didn’t recognize.
The piece was written by Max Davison at McSweeney’s (which should have been the first clue) who pretended to be an HBO executive announcing Entourage will be the network’s first series to undergo “sensitivity readings,” noting, “[Since 2011], we have since undergone vast shifts in our views on women, race, and Ed Hardy …. These include sexism, homophobia, misogyny, anti-Semitism, dubious sexual politics, Asian hate, toxic masculinity, the casting couch, racial slurs, ethnic slurs, sexist jokes, abusive workplace language, mockery of sex workers,...

He leads a discreet life, trying never to make a mistake, out of fear of being deported.

After a judge in Texas got the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of mifepristone, the drug used in medication abortions, suspended, access to the most commonly used method of abortion in the country is now in limbo on a federal level. And John Oliver is pretty mad about it.
Earlier this month, U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, a man appointed by the twice-impeached-and-now-indicted former president, Donald Trump, ordered a hold on federal approval of mifepristone, a shocking ruling considering the Fda has approved the drug for decades.
Unless the Supreme Court overrules it — something they might do, considering an Obama-era judge issued a ruling basically saying the exact opposite of Kacsmaryk over same the weekend — the ruling would affect women everywhere.

John Oliver took a few minutes out of Last Week Tonight to discuss a U.S. district judge’s recent ruling related to mifepristone, the most commonly used method of abortion.
Earlier this month, U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, a Trump appointee, ordered a hold on federal approval of the drug in a decision that overruled decades of scientific approval. At the same time, U.S. District Judge Thomas O. Rice, an Obama appointee, essentially ordered the opposite and directed U.S. authorities not to make any changes that would restrict access to the drug in at least 17 states where Democrats sued in an effort to protect availability.
“Like every fight that you’ve had with your uncle since 2016, we’re gonna start with abortion — the thing that Republican men love to ban almost as much as they love to secretly pay for,” Oliver joked toward the beginning of his HBO talk show.

Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update” with Colin Jost and Michael Che took multiple swings at Fox News and Donald Trump on the show.
After Jost introduced a topic about a study that revealed that a child throws a tantrum an average of four times a week:
“Weeknights on Fox,” Jost quipped as an image of Fox News hosts Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson appeared.
Che followed up with news that Rupert Murdoch’s engagement to Ann Lesley Smith had been called off.
“She got cold feet after Murdoch passed his physical,” Che joked.
A bulk of the jokes at the beginning of the segment focus on Trump’s arraignment where he was indicted with 34 felony charges.
Jost called Trump’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, “Phony Soprano” in reference to The Sopranos’ lead character.
Tacopina said that he didn’t believe his client would get a fair trial in Manhattan, something which Jost agreed with saying,...

Donald Glover has claimed Tina Fey confirmed to him that he was only hired as a writer on 30 Rock because of NBC’s diversity initiative.
At 23 years old, the comedian landed his first writing job on the popular sitcom in 2006.

Malia Obama is staying in the Donald Glover business. As part of a new GQ cover story on the “Atlanta” creator, Glover revealed that his newly-created production company, Gilga, is developing a short film with Malia Obama, the eldest daughter of Barack and Michelle Obama. GQ confirmed Malia is “creating” the short film. It’s unconfirmed at this time if Malia will direct the project.
Malia already has experience working with Glover as part of the writer’s room of his buzzy Amazon Prime Video series “Swarm,” which debuted March 17 on the streaming platform. Malia had a writing credit on the show’s fifth episode, “Girl Bye,” alongside series co-creator Janine Nabers.
As part of the GQ cover, Glover reflected on how he is mentoring Malia in the entertainment world. “The first thing we did was talk about the fact that she will only get to do this once,” Glover said.

A new documentary looks back on bipartisan criminal justice reform efforts championed by CNN anchor Van Jones during the Trump years
On election night 2016, Van Jones, the criminal justice advocate and former Obama administration official turned CNN anchor, processed his shock on live television. “This was a whitelash against a changing country,” he said. “It was a whitelash against a Black president, in part. And that’s the part where the pain comes.” The clip, in which Jones appeared near tears and essentially called Donald Trump a “bully” and a “bigot”, went viral. For many, it was shorthand for shock and dismay, an articulation of unspeakable anger, and a rare example of a pundit calling it like it was.
So it was confusing that over the next few years, Jones, a Black man from western Tennessee, was seen at the Trump White House, conducted the first (and uncomfortably chummy) TV...

“The first thing we did was talk about the fact that she will only get to do this once,” he said.
According to the Atlanta star, he told her: “You’re Obama’s daughter. So if you make a bad film, it will follow you around.”

Leonardo DiCaprio testified in federal court Monday morning as part of a trial involving international money laundering, bribery and a prominent rap artist.
Prakazrel “Pras” Michel — a founding member of 1990s hip-hop group The Fugees — is accused of funneling money from a fugitive Malaysian financier through straw donors to Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign. Five years later, prosecutors say he tried to squelch an investigation into that same financier under former President Donald Trump’s administration.
At the heart of the case is Low Taek Jho, usually known as Jho Low. He is accused of masterminding an international money laundering and bribery scheme that stole billions from the Malaysian state investment fund known as 1Mdb.
DiCaprio’s connection with the case comes from his years-long relationship with Low, who was one of the primary financers of the movie The Wolf of Wall Street. Low is currently a fugitive but has maintained his innocence.

Leonardo DiCaprio took the stand at the federal money laundering trial against Fugees member Pras Michel on Monday. The actor is one of 72 witnesses prosecutors prepped as potential witnesses for the government.
DiCaprio, who is appearing as a witness for the prosecution, testified about the alleged exploits of Malaysian financier Jho Low. Paul Schrader proudly has little concern with how likable he, or his work, is. For his fans, this is part of the joy, finding delight in his prickly Facebook posts and reveling in the black, gnarled heart beating at the center of much of his oeuvre. After the recent existential nightmare of “First Reformed” and last year’s stunningly cruel psychodrama “The Card Counter,” which also premiered on the Lido, Schrader returned to Venice to receive an Honorary Golden Lion award and regale the audience with another gritty tale of redemption. He spoke about “Master Gardener” with his signature nihilist wink and told IndieWire, “This one is going to piss people off. Obama’s not putting it on his top 10 list.”
It is with those expectations, and...
