- Anatoliy Timoshchuk is a Soviet and Ukrainian football player who played as a defensive midfielder.
Timoshchuk was born in Lutsk. From the age of 6 he trained at a local football school, under the leadership of Vladimir Baysarovich. After spending 8 years in a youth sports school, after one of the regional tournaments, he was invited to a Kiev sports boarding school. For some time, his older sister Inna studied with Anatoliy at the sports school. However, due to a knee injury, the girl never became a famous athlete.
His first professional team was 'Volyn' (Lutsk). In 1995, Timoshchuk played his first match in the top league of Ukraine. He gained fame while playing for F.C. Shakhtar Donetsk. In this team he became the captain and player of the main team of the Ukrainian National team. As part of Shakhtar, he played 326 matches and scored 39 goals, becoming a three-time champion of Ukraine, as well as the winner of three Cups and the country's Super Cup.
In 2007 Timoshchuk moved to the F.C. Zenit. Becomes captain of the St. Petersburg club. As part of the St. Petersburg Zenit, he twice became the champion of Russia, winner of the Russian Super Cup, winner of the UEFA Cup and Super Cup.
In 2009, Anatoliy Timoshchuk moved to the German club Bayern München. As part of Bayern Munich, he is a two-time German champion, a two-time German Cup winner, a two-time German Super Cup winner, and a UEFA Champions League winner.
In 2013 he returned to F.C. Zenit again, and in 2015 he played for the Kairat club from Kazakhstan. In 2017, Anatoliy Timoshchuk ends his career as a football player and moves on to coaching. He is a member of the coaching group of F.C. Zenit .
In addition to working in football clubs, Timoshchuk actively played for the Ukraine National Football Team. He played 144 matches for the team and was the team's vice-captain.
