Composer ("That Naughty Waltz"), clarinetist and publisher Sol Paul Levy was educated at All Hallows College and studied music with his father and with Anton Petersen. A first-clarinetist with the John Philip Sousa and Arthur Pryor bands, he assumed the directorship of the foreign orchestrating department at Victor Records, and he co-founded Belwin Music. Joining ASCAP at nineteen in 1920, his other popular-song compositions include "Roses That Die Bloom Again", "Because You Say Goodbye", "Why?", "Memories", "Hunka-Tin", and "Cannibal Carnival".
