Frank Hagney was born on 20 April 1884 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He was an actor, known for It's a Wonderful Life (1946), Ride Him, Cowboy (1932) and The Sea Beast (1926). He was married to Edna M. Keating Shephard and Ethel Scott. He died on 25 June 1973 in Los Angeles, California, USA.- Distinguished Norwegian actor with a formidable presence, a mainstay at The Norwegian Theater in Oslo from 1913 until retirement in 1958.
Often seen as a dominant or evil character, such as his portrayal of the Captain in: Dødsdansen/The Dance of Death by Strindberg, and as Didrik Dale in: Medmenneske, by Olav Duun. But he also played many great roles in comedy and in the classical drama: Jeppe in: Jeppe paa Bjerget,(Holberg) Teiresias in: Antigone, and as Oedipus (both by Sophocles).
In films he played mostly small parts, but he is well remembered for his appearance as Sebaldus in a very popular film: Fant, directed by Tancred Ibsen.
During his long career he acted in several Radio plays, and in 1965 he played a leading role in the famous play about King Olav II, shown at an outdoor stage at Stiklestad every summer since 1954.
