Producer, director, and writer of Indian cinema. Born on 7 June 1914 in Panipat, he graduated with a degree in literature. He was the author of about twenty books, some of which have been translated into various languages, and was a founding member of the Progressive Writers' Association. From 1938 onward, he traveled widely outside of India. In 1951, as a member of an Indian delegation, he went to China on an academic junket. In 1954-55, he visited various countries of Western and Eastern Europe (Great Britain, Czechoslovakia, Poland, USSR). He was the owner of the film production and distribution company Naya Sansar in Bombay. Abbas wrote several films (Naya Sansar, Nai Kahani, Nai Duniya, Panna, etc.) before expanding his work into producing and directing.- Betty Carse was born on 8 December 1920 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. She was an actress, known for Three on a Match (1932). She died on 1 June 1987 in San Luis Obispo County, California, USA.
- Brazilian writer, humor journalist, screenwriter and columnist Leon Eliachar was born on 10 October, 1922 in Cairo, Egypt. He spend most of his life in Rio de Janeiro, working as columnist to several magazines and newspapers, most notably Última Hora, with his famous column entitled "Penúltima Hora". A multi-talented man, besides his always humored news writing, he wrote two film screenplays, the Carnival comedies Carnaval em Caxias (1954) and Carnaval em Marte (1955), and one TV series in the 1970's. Also worked as a secretary for Revista Manchete, one of the most popular Brazilian magazines of its time and he also wrote radio shows. Eliachar is best known for his books, some of them autobiographical works, and among those of his published works are "O Homem ao Quadrado" (1960), "O Homem ao Cubo" (1963), "A Mulher em Flagrante" (1965), "O Homem ao Zero" (1967), "10 em Humor" (1968) - which was a collaboration along with the likes of Henfil, Millôr Fernandes, Stanislaw Ponte Preta and many other famous cartoonists of the period - and his final book, "O Homem ao Meio" (1979).
On 1 June, 1987, he was murdered by two gunmen in his apartment, in what later was discovered as a crime ordered by a powerful farmer/councilman who knew that Eliachar was having an affair with his wife. - Producer

He died on 1 June 1987 in Antwerpen, Belgium.- Konstantin Adashevsky was a Russian character actor with the Pushkin (Aleksandrinsky) Drama Theatre in Leningrad (St. Petersburg).
He was born Konstantin Ignatevich Adashevsky on April 11, 1897, near Kalisz, Poland. His father, Ignaty Adashevsky, was Polish. The family moved to St. Petersburg, Russia, and there young Adashevsky caught the acting bug. He studied acting at the Davidov School of Russian Drama in St. Petersburg, graduating in 1925 as actor. From 1925-1987 he was a permanent member of the troupe of the Pushkin (Aleksandrinsky) Drama Theatre in Leningrad (St. Petersburg). There his stage partners were such remarkable actors as Yekaterina Korchagina-Aleksandrovskaya, Nikolay Cherkasov, Yuri Yuryev, Boris Babochkin, Nikolai Simonov, Vasiliy Merkurev, Illarion Pevtsov, Konstantin Skorobogatov, Yuriy Tolubeev, Aleksandr Borisov, Bruno Frejndlikh, Vladimir Chestnokov, Vladimir Erenberg, Leonid Vivyen, Nikolai Marton, Igor Gorbachyov, Olga Lebzak, Nina Mamaeva, Lidiya Shtykan, Nina Urgant, Galina Karelina, and other notable Russian actors. He was awarded the State Stalin's Prize of the USSR (1951), and was designated People's Artist of the USSR (1985). Konstantin Adashevsky died of a heart failure on June 1, 1987, and was laid to rest in Serafimovskoe cemetery in St. Petersburg (Leningrad), Russia. - Linda Donahew was born on 15 June 1945. She died on 1 June 1987 in Arlington, Texas, USA.
