- It's 12 June 1942, Anne Frank's birthday, and her present is a camera. It's wartime, the Netherlands is occupied by the Germans and Jews are allowed to do less and less. Anne's sister Margot is called to appear before the Nazi occupiers.
- It's the spring of 1944. The Frank family and the other people in hiding with them have been in the Annex for almost two years. Anne feels lonely and would really like to be with Peter. But does he like her?
- One evening, Anne and the others who are in hiding hear loud noises in the warehouse. The men decide to investigate, but have to rush back to the hiding place. Then they hear someone by the bookcase.
- The atmosphere in the Annex is bad. Everyone is bad-tempered except for Anne. Something happens which makes her very happy.
- Anne tells her father about her friendship with Peter. Her father doesn't like it. He forbids Anne from going to Peter anymore. This makes Anne angry and sad.
- Anne expresses the hope that someday people will not treat her any differently because she is Jewish.
- Anne and the others who are in hiding are hungry. It's really hot and there's still no sign that the Netherlands is going to be liberated. How much longer do they have to stay in that stuffy Annex?
- June 1944. At last Anne and the others who are in hiding receive some good news: friends are on their way.
- Anne was very critical, not only of others, but above all, of herself. And yet she could do nothing right in the eyes of the others in hiding with her. This drove her crazy.
- Anne has been in hiding for more than two years. While she can't go outside, she dreams about being free once again.
- Anne and the others in hiding with her were dependent on the helpers to survive. They worked in the office at the front of the house. Anne did not take their help for granted, because the helpers were risking their lives for them.
- Anne changed while she was in the Annex. She came to the conclusion that she was really made up of two Annes: a shallow Anne and a serious Anne. But why could she never manage to show her serious side?
- It was Anne's 761st day in the Annex. A day like any other. But then she suddenly heard the bookcase being unexpectedly pushed open.
- Anne is finding life difficult. There is still no sign of the liberation. She doesn't know what to do about her feelings for Peter. Then she has an idea: she would like to use her camera to make a real film about life in the Annex. She wants to mean something to people. This will give her life some meaning again.
- Anne thought Peter and about her father a great deal. She was disappointed in both. Peter was too dependent on her and she no longer felt supported by her father. But Anne knew what she wanted.
