First she must pull off for Max's mate's major Black Forrest touristic real estate project the sale of destitute, yet unwilling farmer Karl Lindner's homestead. Semi-accidentally posing, with a broken-down car, as ZU researcher, she gets invited on the farm, gets on well with the family, finds out -while helping with field and barn chores- his parents whose life work he feels he must carry on want out anyhow, and the pair falls in love. * Having found out about his outstanding debt, she had the weapon the enforce foreclosure, but hesitates to break his dreams, even questions her own future in the urban rate race.
- The painter Hans Hauser falls head over heels in love with the "Black Forest girl" Bärbele Riederle. He travels to her home village and soon the two realize that they are made for each other.
- Achim Hagenau and his farm neighbor Bärbel Ramsbächle have been in a happy marriage for five years now. What the former city doctor and current farmer Achim doesn't suspect: Bärbel has been worried about his health for some time. She is convinced that Achim's heart won't last much longer if he doesn't finally slow down. She is troubled by the constant conflict with her evil brother-in-law, the ox host, who is after her farm. That's why she has already secretly quit her job as a teacher to move to Stuttgart with Achim. He is deeply offended when he accidentally finds out about this plan. And so the couple slides into their first serious marital crisis. Because Achim also made his plans like this. He wants to transfer his own farm to the family of his "almost son-in-law" Boris. And he wants to transform Bärbel's estate into a sanctuary for old animals under his own leadership. He starts with his great aunt's two loyal Rottweilers, who were actually supposed to be put down and who from now on never leave his side. With his plans, however, Achim puts himself between all stools. The greedy ox farmer already saw Bärbel's farm as a lucrative trading point for cheap export cattle. Meanwhile, Achim's daughter Anna, an easy-going veterinarian, and his son Arnulf fear for their inheritance if Boris gets his father's farm - although on the other hand they are trying to emancipate themselves from their caring Pappa. Only Achim's youngest son, Achim junior, supports his father. So the big family reunion ends in a big family row. Only when the stressed Achim collapses at the wheel of his car a little later does the clan come to their senses.
