- In some scenes we are taken through an oriental market place congested here and there in the flurry of business activities while on either side of the streets, Burma flower girls line the way, peddling their goods and bargaining with the shrewdness of a prosperous merchant. Turning from here to the lumber region we see the tremendous strength of the elephant (a beast of burden) applying its bulk and brawn in moving such timber as would require mechanical force in a modern country.
- The Shwe Dagon (pronounced "Shway Dagon'') Pagoda, is the most venerable, the finest, and the most universally visited of all places of worship in Indo-China. It is the only Pagoda which is credited with containing actual relics, not only of Caudama, but of the three Bhuddas who preceded him. It attracts countless pilgrims, not only from all parts of Burma, but from Siam, China, Korea, and Ceylon. The panorama is taken from the platform, which is 900 feet long by 685 feet wide. Here are hundreds of images of Buddha, large and small, sitting, standing and reclining, white and black, some of alabaster, others of clay, or of wood. Interspersed among these are multitudes of bells of all sizes. These the worshiper strikes as he passes with the deer's antlers that lie beside them, to call attention to his acts of piety. The platform is never deserted, night or day, and constitutes one of the most interesting sights in the world. The central Pagoda rises to a height of 375 feet, a little higher than St. Paul's Cathedral.
- 2008–TV EpisodeA story about two young men who belong to the national baseball team in Yangon, Myanmar.
- Markus Winter, owner of the upscale Siethoff hotel group, travels to his luxury resort in Myanmar to advance an ambitious project: the establishment of a first-class hotel management school, whereby the historic pagodas are to be carefully and respectfully integrated into the hotel complex. The architect Frank Simon, with whom Markus has worked several times, is entrusted with the conception and planning of the project. Even at the first meeting, Winter senses that his old companion is not doing well: Frank, who is otherwise so dynamic, seems erratic, unfocused and exhausted. Everything indicates that he suffers from burnout syndrome - which he initially refuses to admit to himself. The wealthy businessman Georg Körner has completely different worries. His splendid wedding in front of an exotic backdrop is in danger of falling into the water, as his bride, the much younger Anna, is stuck at the airport in far away Yangon. Rescue is approaching in the form of the casual adventurer Hendrik Felden, with whom Anna can find a ride, but the spoiled city dweller and the nature-loving globetrotter have very different ideas about travel. Only gradually does the young woman develop a new view of the country and its inhabitants on the journey of several days through original villages and magical landscapes. At the same time, her feelings for Hendrik get stronger and stronger. Her groom Georg makes the acquaintance of the down-to-earth, slightly awkward vacationer Maria Schneider. Actually, the beautician from Bavaria had traveled to the Far East to finally relax completely. But now she is actively helping Georg prepare for the wedding party. There is no question that this encounter will not be without amorous consequences.
