Larry Semon proposes marriage to Marion Aye, but she turns him down and flees the farm to become a member of the chorus line at the Blue Squirrel, whence Larry rescues her and returns her to papa Jack Duffy.
If you're looking for the maximum number of slapstick gags competently rendered per minute, this two-reeler is for you. There's everything from burros kicking people into the cactus to sneezing cocaine users to exploding automobiles. Everyone takes long falls, thanks to Semon's adept use of cutting and undercranked camera work. In fact, this is as good as Semon gets and other members of his troupe get some spectacular gags, mostly in falls.
If you're like me and have seen a lot of Larry Semon films, you've seen these gags many times before. He had a decent-sized number of gags in his repertoire, attached them to sketchy plots and ran through them in varying order. As a result, while there is certainly nothing wrong with this Semon comedy, anyone familiar with his work will likely find it another in the long and repetitious series.
