A lost gem, not not totally
searchanddestroy-123 November 2014
I am not surprised that this silent movie has not been commented. I got it from a collector's copy, a rather tepid one, from certainly an Italian vault, something like this. Not from a TCM taping off. Anyway, this feature is already a remake and not the last of the series (remakes). The most known is the 1936 one, directed by Frank Lloyd, starring Claudette Colbert and Ronald Colman, as far as I know. OK, that said, I can already say that it's useless to watch this film - if you find it - for Tod Browning as a director. OK it is a rare, hard to find film from him, but nothing to do here with his other famous movies starring Lon Chaney. No, no, no, nothing here recalling the weird Tod Browning's atmosphere. Just an adventure yarn, as hundred of others we watched from this era, and that were not lost. But I already know that if any of you gets it, on TCM for instance, you won't miss it. And you'll be damn right.
