Sex & Nudity

  • A young lady is shocked when the door to the changing room opens and she can see a young man towelling down after a rugby game. He is shirtless but wears very long underpants.
  • A woman flirts with a young man and dances with him and his friend. She leads one of them off into another room where she tries unsuccessfully to kiss him. She is later seen kissing the second boy.
  • There is a hint of sexual impropriety and possible pregnancy, but it is so subtle that many viewers and reviewers missed it entirely. Nothing to be alarmed about here.
  • A man and woman kiss on the upper deck of a bus. Soon they are wed. Then they share a more lingering kiss.

Violence & Gore

  • Two boys scuffle in the stairwell, but it is more rough-housing than a violent fight.
  • A young man grabs a girl roughly by the arm.
  • A man scuffles with his wife's lover. Punches are thrown, throats are grabbed, before one man is knocked out.
  • A woman hits a man on the side of the head.

Profanity

  • This is a silent film - no language of any kind. :-) No profanity on the title cards either.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Two men share a brandy. Other adult characters relax with a drink at various times.
  • A male and female actor each smoke in their dressing-room after a performance, deliberately blowing smoke into the lens of the camera. Other adult characters smoke.
  • Two men have a celebratory cigar and a drink.
  • As the man's decline continues he wakens in a squalid smoke-filled room in Marseilles, pipes and cigarettes being smoked furiously by the three occupants of the room. A man offers alcohol to revive him, before drinking it himself, directly from the bottle.
