Tom Greene, a swaggering broker's messenger, is fired from his job just as he and his sweetheart, Patsy, put the first down payment on what is to be their honeymoon cottage. Patsy, a dancer at the Kit Kat Club, is introduced that evening to Powers, Tom's former boss, and gets some inside information on a stock deal. The following day, Tom gets a note from a law firm authorizing him on behalf of an unknown client Patsy to buy and sell a certain stock at a certain price. Tom does so and makes a killing; other deals follow, and Tom becomes arrogant and vain. Putting his relationship with Patsy in Jeopardy
