- There are several implications of marital infidelity between Doris and Steve. They are also implied to have had sex when they had an evening alone. In the back of the car, she is seen to take off her wedding ring and give it to Steve. They then spend the evening together, returning at 3 a.m. home. This fact is used to coerce a murder confession out of Steve when the chief threatens to expose this fact to his boss, her husband.
