Wanda was never just a character in the MCU. She started out a villain, became a hero, became a hero with a tragic backstory, lost everything, and circled back to being a villain until eventually becoming sort of a hero again by destroying Darkhold and supposedly taking her own life.
Now even the ending of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ was pretty open-ended, and the official statements on the matter really did nothing to answer the question – is Wanda still alive within the MCU?
Most fans, including me, believe that collapsing debris can’t really do much against Nexus being with such a Multiversal potential, after all, we’ve seen Wanda tanking far worse, so she will likely return. Recently, there’s been a few rumors circling that she is going to get her own standalone movie, even if that doesn’t happen, there are a few projects in which she could return,...

Rihanna‘s “Take a Bow” is one of her most underrated songs, which is pretty shocking considering how popular it was back in the 2000s. The track was co-written by an R&b star and it originally had an Asian flavor. The tune shares its title and some of its other attributes with a Madonna song from the 1990s.

Jay-Z wasn’t too impressed with Rihanna after one of her songs failed. A dance track changed everything for Rihanna. One of her songwriters decided to give her a Madonna-inspired musical makeover and it paid off big time. It also changed the trajectory of Rihanna’s life.
1 Rihanna song stopped Jay-Z from dropping her from his label
During a 2020 interview with Vulture, songwriter Evan Rogers recalled the state of Rihanna’s career following the failure of her single “If It’s Lovin’ That You Want.” “I remember we had a meeting with Jay-Z at his Four Seasons hotel suite out in Beverly Hills,” Rogers said. “He called us because Rihanna had been acting up a little bit. A six-decade WGA member and longtime former board member who was active in the 2007-08 strike, Wilcox was a fierce champion of unions and equal rights. One of television's greatest cads is Army surgeon Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce, played by Alan Alda, on the classic sitcom series M*A*S*H. He's almost always hooking up with one nurse or another, but in one special episode, audiences got to see what happened when a woman truly captured his heart. In the season 4 episode "The More I See You," a nurse named Carlye ends up working in the Mash 4077 unit, and Hawkeye recognized her as the only woman (at that point) he had ever loved. She broke his heart and might even explain why he has such a negative view of marriage and even monogamy throughout the series, and their reunion is as chaotic as you might expect.
Carlye is played by actor Blythe Danner in the episode, and she's absolutely fantastic. She manages to feel totally at home in the world of "M*A*S*H...

Fox News and MSNBC saw slight viewership increases in primetime in the month of January as the 2024 primary season got underway, although the whole contest may be short-lived given Donald Trump’s sweep of Iowa and New Hampshire and Joe Biden’s nominal opposition.
Fox News topped the month with an average of 1.98 million viewers in seven-night primetime, a 2% increase from the same month a year ago, while MSNBC averaged 1.09 million, up 4%, and CNN posted 605,000, down 4%.
In the 25-54 demo, Fox News averaged 219,000, down 8%, compared to CNN with 124,000, down 14%, and MSNBC with 106,000, off by 3%.
In total day, Fox News averaged 1.25 million, down 7%, compared to MSNBC with 761,000, up 8%, and CNN with 463,000, down 12%. In the total-day demo, Fox News averaged 149,000, down 14%, compared to CNN with 86,000, down 20% and MSNBC with 77,000, down 1%.

Nicola Maccanico, a former Warner Bros. and Sky Italia senior exec, has been spearheading the radical overhaul of Rome’s Cinecittà Studios since April 2021, when the government-owned facilities embarked on a mission to secure a multi-million dollar loan provided by the European Union’s post-pandemic recovery fund.
Three years later, the studios are equipped with 20 state-of-the-art soundstages, including one of Europe’s largest LED walls, and have become a magnet for Hollywood productions such as Roland Emmerich’s gladiator series “Those About to Die.” As the production hiatus brought on by the Hollywood strikes eases up, more U.S. shoots are soon to come, he vows.
Below, Maccanico discusses with Variety what he’s accomplished in terms of reviving the studios and what remains to be done.

Yesterday, Aniplex got the whole Internet buzzing with one letter: "O." Today, they're doing it again. In a similar move to yesterday's reveal , the studio today launched another vague teaser. This site (with the URL subdirectory "z8p0g9") depicts a black letter M against a bright red background. A hunt through the source code of both O and M reveals nothing so far — meaning the studio really is playing these announcements very close to the chest. Related: Aniplex's Latest Anime Teaser is Literally Just the Letter "O" Before you start looking up which of your favorite manga and light novels start with the letters "Om," though, bear in mind that Codename O and Codename M are confirmed to be two separate projects. M, according to the Demon Slayer and Sword Art Online producer, is "an animation project similar to O," rather than the second in a series of announcements slowly spelling out the name.

Now that the age of superheroes is ending, video game adaptations are the new cinematic frontier. We've seen TV adaptations like "Arcane" and "The Last of Us" receive critical acclaim, while big-screen adaptations like the "Sonic the Hedgehog" movies have proved to be huge commercial hits. The next highly anticipated TV adaptation of a beloved video game franchise is "Fallout," co-created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy ("Westworld") with Geneva Robertson-Dworet ("Tomb Raider") and Graham Wagner ("Portlandia") serving as showrunners.
"Fallout" takes place in 2296, 219 years after a great nuclear war that annihilated mankind. The survivors took refuge in underground bunkers known as Vaults. Those who leave the vaults encounter a dangerously hostile and brutal wasteland that, despite some elements of advanced technology, retains the aesthetics of 1950s Americana. It's a retrofuturistic story set hundreds of years in the future, featuring mutated monsters and intelligent (and somehow hot) ghouls. But to...

When it comes to talking about TV shows with a real-world message, actors, writers, and others involved have to walk a fine line between self-deprecating and self-important. Can a show make its viewers better people? Can it actually change the world? These are questions the cast and crew of "M*A*S*H" seem to get asked a lot, as a recent retrospective on the series titled "M*A*S*H: The Comedy That Changed Television" demonstrates.
The special includes commentary from "M*A*S*H" alums who tell stories about the impact the groundbreaking dramedy series had on them personally and on the world at large. In one archival footage scene, someone at a press conference asked actor William Christopher about whether the Vietnam-era show could've changed Americans' opinions about the war. Though it’s been off the air for more than 40 years, the legacy of the classic sitcom M*A*S*H” is still strong. In fact, the show’s finale still holds the record, even after all these years, for the most-watched scripted television episode ever. And, through syndication and streaming, the show’s audience continues to grow, too. In 1982, "Cheers" premiered and started one of the great runs in TV history, staying on-air for 11 seasons and 275 episodes — not bad for a show that almost crashed and burned in its first season. Of course, I, being born in 1988, missed most of that run. But I've always been aware of the series' massive influence and lasting legacy as one of the finest sitcoms ever made. "Cheers" maintains that standing 30 years after the final episode aired.
Aired on May 20, 1993, "One for the Road" quickly became the second-highest-rated series finale of all time, just losing out to CBS's "M*A*S*H" series finale. A lot of genre fans had been waiting sixteen years to see director Eli Roth’s holiday slasher Thanksgiving (read our review Here), ever since he contributed a faux trailer for the concept to the Robert Rodriguez / Quentin Tarantino double feature Grindhouse back in 2007. The movie hasn’t exactly done massive numbers since reaching theatres a week and a half ago; so far it has racked up just over $30 million at the global box office. But that’s enough to get Sony’s TriStar Pictures to greenlight a sequel! Roth took to social media to announce that Thanksgiving 2 is a go, and he’ll be returning to the helm for this follow-up! Roth’s announcement can be seen at the bottom of this article.
Roth says that he and Thanksgiving co-writer Jeff Rendell (who played the homicidal pilgrim in the trailer) will be taking the next year to working on the Thanksgiving 2 script,...

When it comes to watching modern TV shows, the binge-watch process is easy: find them on streaming or cable, click, and watch. For older shows, though, there's often a catch. Either a classic sitcom won't be available on streaming, or it'll have an improper aspect ratio or degraded image, or something might be off with the sound. Classic TV fans know that sometimes, the best way to experience a show is not in syndicated reruns, where whole scenes might be cut out, songs replaced, or edits tampered with.
The '70s anti-war sitcom "M*A*S*H" is no exception. There are plenty of versions of the show floating around, but most folks who have caught up with it in the past few years may have done so via Hulu, where a crisp HD remaster makes the series feel new again. On Hulu, though, the show's aspect ratio is wacky,...

There was a time when a great many people would proclaim Francis Ford Coppola's mob masterpiece "The Godfather" as the greatest American film of the last 50 years. Those people can't do that anymore. It isn't because the movie has lost any of its artistic power or breathtaking cinematic invention. It's simply because "The Godfather" is now 51 years old, having been released back in 1972. The film is now closer to 1922, five years prior to the popularization of synchronized sound in film, than it is to today, and that gap will only continue to grow thanks to the inevitable march of time.
Because of that time, we have lost so many people involved in the making of the picture, including Mario Puzo, the film's co-writer and author of the original novel, and Gordon Willis, the cinematographer who crafted the signature dark look of the picture. Also gone are many of the film's cast members,...

In the world of movies and TV shows, there are countless adaptations that have been made from popular novels and biographical works. But these forms of entertainment have also been inspired by and adapted from some of the biggest video games, which don't get nearly as much attention as they should. In 2023, HBO's acclaimed series "The Last of Us," based on the Sony action-adventure game franchise of the same name, broke viewership records and became the most-watched show in the history of the streaming platform in Europe and Latin America, per the Associated Press.
Along with television series, video-game-to-movie adaptations have also grown in popularity among audiences, with the star-studded "The Super Mario Bros." movie, adapted from the beloved game franchise by Nintendo, being the second-highest grossing film of 2023 so far, as reported by Insider. If you caught up with "M*A*S*H" sometime after the beloved wartime sitcom ended its much-lauded original run, you'd be forgiven for having no clue about the series' spinoffs. After all, 50 years after it first aired, "M*A*S*H" remains a major pillar of TV history -- for its rollicking anti-authority spirit and bleeding heart attitude, its genre-blending and experimental episodes, and its record-breaking finale telecast, which is still by some measures the most-watched in the history of television. "AfterMASH," though? Well, not so much.
It's a testament to the flagship series' strengths that decades after it ended, its bizarre and short-lived spinoffs haven't tainted its reputation at all. In fact, they've mostly been forgotten, in part because they're unavailable on streaming and tough to find on home video. Three "M*A*S*H" spinoffs were made in hopes of capitalizing on some of the original series' magic, but only one -- the...

Investment in original content production continues to grow in Italy where resources across all genres reached a total of €1.8 billion ($1.9 billion) thanks to increased investments from U.S. streamers. But linear TV remains the Italian industry’s main driver.
That’s the main takeaway from the annual report on local production presented on Friday by Italy’s TV producers’ association APA at Rome’s Mia market
The $1.9 billion pot of cash poured into Italian productions of all types in 2022 represented only a small increase over 2021, which is when local originals were boosted by a 55% post-pandemic growth spurt, according to figures from the APA report.
Film and TV product currently account for 55% of these investments with an increase in resources now going into documentaries and animation product mostly destined for streaming play.
“The constantly growing investment from streamers is currently worth almost a third of the total TV market,” said APA chief Chiara Sbarigia.

The popularity of "M*A*S*H" is well-documented: Its record-setting finale telecast, which captivated 125 million people in total, is cited in media studies lessons, bar trivia games, and world record books alike. But when we talk about how "M*A*S*H" went out on a high note with the most-watched non-Super Bowl telecast of all time, we don't often talk about what those viewership numbers make clear: The show ended while plenty of fans were still clamoring for more.
"M*A*S*H" ran for 11 seasons before bowing out with the feature-length finale, "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen." But unlike most shows that fizzle out after a long run or are canceled after a short one, "M*A*S*H" didn't have trouble getting audiences' attention. According to classic TV ratings databases, nine of the show's seasons were among the top 10 most-watched shows on TV, and millions of fans tuned in regularly even before its big finish. It is proving to be a somewhat unusual season for both the Texas A&m Aggies and the No. 11 Alabama Crimson Tide. Since arriving in College Station, Jimbo Fishers’ Aggie teams haven’t had much in terms of offense, but this year, they have a top-15 scoring unit. Conversely, putting up points has never been a problem for Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide, but in 2023, they are outside the top 50 nationally. Both squads are still in contention for the SEC West title, so this game will be incredibly important for both programs. It plays pretty tame by today's standards, but when "M*A*S*H" premiered on CBS in 1972, it pushed the network envelope in terms of language and operating room gore. As the series got deeper into its run, it occasionally eschewed the use of a laugh track (primarily on episodes that were not aiming for the funny bone).
It took "M*A*S*H" a season to become one of the biggest hits on television, but even when it did the network censors had a job to do, and they did it by the book. They were especially strict when it came to anything that might be perceived as off-color humor, which meant they went well beyond the verbiage rattled off by comedian George Carlin in his classic "Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television" routine.
This often rubbed series developer Larry Gelbart the wrong way, especially since the show's inspiration was Robert Altman's very R-rated 1970 feature film.

AI - i.e. artificial intelligence - is everywhere right now. On TikTok, I often come across AI covers sung by digital imitations of other artists. My friends who are teachers say that they know students are turning in AI-generated work. And AI-generated images seem to go viral all the time; that image of the Pope wearing a giant white puffer still makes me laugh, even if I know there's something not quite right there. As a writer, I'm constantly thinking about the threat AI poses to what I do, too.
Somewhat serendipitously - seeing as these projects have been in the works for literally years - it's also been a big year for fictional AI onscreen. This summer, "Mission Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1" featured Tom Cruise's borderline superhuman Ethan Hunt facing off against a literal AI. Nicola Maccanico, a former Warner Bros. and Sky Italia senior exec, has been spearheading the radical overhaul of Rome’s Cinecittà Studios since June 2021, when the government-owned facilities secured a multi-million dollar loan provided by the European Union’s post-pandemic recovery fund to upgrade and expand the iconic facilities.
Under Maccanico’s watch, the studios – which now boast 20 state-of-the-art soundstages and one of Europe’s largest LED walls – have become a magnet for Hollywood productions, such as Netflix’s period soap “The Decameron” and Roland Emmerich’s gladiator series “Those About to Die,” which is still currently shooting.
But, of course, the SAG-AFTRA strike is starting to slow things down and could “become a big problem,” as Maccanico tells Variety below.

It's easy to take the television version of "M*A*S*H" for granted. Based on Robert Altman's raucous New Hollywood comedy, the series gracefully sanded down the film's problematic edges and presented a more bracingly humanistic view of combat medical personnel struggling to maintain their sanity while watching one young man after another die on their operating tables. But once the show became a Nielsen ratings juggernaut and entered syndication, it was unavoidably consumed as couch potato comfort food just like every other hit sitcom. It was a first-rate homework diversion. College kids devised drinking games around it.
And yet while most episodes of "M*A*S*H" were strictly laugh riots, the writers, led at the outset by the great Larry Gelbart (who departed the series after Season 4), never lost sight of the war in which the show was set (nor the ongoing war it was often commenting on). This wasn't "Hogan's Heroes.

“Klane’s satirical and daring writing pushed the boundaries of good taste, while depicting the unfairness of life through themes of sex, family, madness and death,” Klane’s son, Jon, said in a statement.

Times Square has little to no redeeming qualities. New York’s tourist hotspot is congested and chaotic — but it’s also an advertising magnet of bright lights and giant visual displays. When Spotify plasters LED billboards across the area promoting new music releases, fans and artists alike flock to the area to catch a glimpse and snap pictures to share on social media. Sky Ferreira fans would love to partake in this kind of fandom activity, but her album releases have been seemingly deadlocked with Capitol Records since her debut record arrived a decade ago.

For "M*A*S*H" fans, the best time of year is pretty much whenever cast members from the beloved military comedic drama end up in the same place. It's rare to see these actors and artists, now mostly in their 80s, reunite, so when they do get together, it always feels like a special celebration. The most recent reunion came earlier this year when B.J. Hunnicutt actor Mike Farrell popped over to Alan Alda's long-running science and communication podcast "Clear+Vivid" to help him read a scene from "M*A*S*H." Except, there was a catch: the brand new scene from the show that ended back in 1983 was actually written by artificial intelligence, with some strong guidance from Alda.
If you recoiled a bit at the mention of AI writing there, that's totally understandable. But it's worth noting that this podcast was recorded before AI became...

Robert Altman's "M*A*S*H" is an uproariously funny anti-war masterpiece on par with the Marx Brothers' "Duck Soup." Set at a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital during the Korean War in 1951, but released to theaters in 1970, Altman's movie was unmistakably commenting on the ongoing meat grinder that was the Vietnam War. One second you're howling at the decidedly un-pc antics of Army surgeons Benjamin "Hawkeye" Pierce (Donald Sutherland) and "Trapper" John McIntyre (Elliott Gould), and the next you're cringing as blood spurts from the wounded soldiers they're endeavoring to save.
This sui generis classic did not feel like grist for a TV sitcom spinoff (à la "The Odd Couple" or "Please Don't Eat the Daisies"), but somehow series creator Larry Gelbart was able to strike an authentic, network-friendly balance between the rebellious behavior of Hawkeye and company, and the soul-deadening savagery of war. The CBS series aired for 11 years, seven years...

We’ve lost count of how many times we wrote about Dceu ending and Dcu kicking off to replace it soon. We are all very familiar with the situation, and right now, we can only wait to see what Dcu has in store for us once Dceu releases the last two movies on its slate; ‘Blue Beetle,’ which is only a few days away, and ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,’ which will be released this December. In 2024, we can expect an Elseworlds movie ‘Joker: Folie à Deux.’ But, before Dcu kicks off with ‘Superman: Legacy’ in 2025, the first of many projects that Gunn announced earlier this year, ‘Creature Commandos,’ will also premiere in 2024.

It’s not clear when it happened — sometime in the past 27 years — but the Mission: Impossible movies gradually evolved into Hollywood’s best modern action franchise. Figuring out how this happened is far easier: Star Tom Cruise’s legendary willingness to do anything and everything to make each film a blockbuster while — as the franchise’s most powerful producer — savvily finding creative partners that bring out his best. In fact, Cruise is much like his Imf agent Ethan Hunt: When the man’s on a mission, he’s an unstoppable force who’ll never stop running until he saves the day — or, the summer box office. Below, The Hollywood Reporter ranks every Mission: Impossible film, including the newly released Dead Reckoning Part One, from the very worst to the definite best.

It’s 10 a.m. in Sydney, where Hayley Atwell is preparing to walk the red carpet as the “Mission: Impossible” crew’s newest member, joining producer and star Tom Cruise and writer-director Christopher McQuarrie’s ensemble of battle-hardened actors.
“This is a pure cinematic experience. It’s unadulterated entertainment, and of a huge scale,” Atwell says to Variety about “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” which finally hit theaters on July 12 following a two-year delay caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Flashy events like the Australia premiere (which featured a fireworks spectacle in honor of Cruise’s 61st birthday on July 3) mark the end of a four-year odyssey that pushed Atwell’s limits physically — leaving her hanging inside a train car that’s gone from horizontal to vertical, gripping anything nailed to the floor/wall/ceiling lest she fall to her death (or at least the safety rigging below) — and...
