There have been some incorrect claims this serial was initially released in the UK, before it was in the US. It was made in the UK by Universal and Mutual Pictures Ltd. in late 1931. The serial was first released as "Detective Lloyd" in the US (January 4, 1932), then in the UK with the title "Lloyd of the C.I.D." (April 18, 1932). It was never trade shown in the UK until February 16, 1932, then reviewed in Kinematograph Weekly in the February 18, 1932 issue, before being released on April 18, 1932. See Kinematograph Year Book Vol. 20 (1933) pages 61, 82, and 86. A search through both USA and UK newspapers finds theater advertisements for showings to the public confirming the initial release in the US in January, followed by the UK release under the alternate title in April.
