The opening live-action clip of Cab Calloway and his orchestra is said to be the earliest known film footage of Calloway.
The title refers to the 1931 jazz song "Minnie the Moocher" recorded by Cab Calloway and His Cotton Club Orchestra which sold over 1 million copies. "Minnie the Moocher" is most famous for its nonsensical ad libbed ("scat") lyrics (for example, "Hi De Hi De Hi De Hi") that was repeated by the audience.
Koko the Clown, a regular Fleischer character, makes a cameo appearance, when Betty Boop dips her pen in the inkwell and pulls Koko, along with a drop of ink, from the bottle. Koko quickly disappears back into the ink.
