Who, if any of them, made it out unscathed? Who made it out at all? Read on…

Metal, next to my love for film scores, runs in my blood. I was one of the few kids in my high school that wore a lot of Metallica shirts and, back then, all I listened to was metal. I was definitely an outcast because of this. Most people in my high school liked R&B and Country (and not the good kind).
I didn’t know much about The Devil’s Candy except that it just played at the Toronto International Film Festival during its Midnight Madness program and dealt with a family dealing with a possible demonic entity that possesses a painter and that it was Sean Byrne‘s follow-up to The Loved Ones. That was literally all I knew. I was happy to see that the lead character was played by Ethan Embry who has been in some great flicks as of late (see Cheap Thrills if...

Citizens of Phoenix can now rest easy: two escaped llamas previously terrorizing (and most likely fertilizing) the streets have been captured. The two elusive animals - one black, one white - initially avoided capture by the Maricopa County sheriff's deputies (and some amateur llama wranglers) in Sun City, Arizona, on Thursday afternoon. Fortunately, most of the chase was streamed live, turning the llama drama into a trending topic on Twitter (with plenty of shout-outs for Lorenzo Lamas) and generating a series of hilarious GIFs. Both llamas are now safely in custody, according to ABC News. No word yet on where...

Forget car chases. Llama chases are the new best thing ever!
Two llamas — one white and one black -- were on the loose in Sun City, Ariz. Today, dodging traffic and various wrangling attempts. Naturally ABC15 had a helicopter overhead to provide a live feed of the whole ordeal, which provided the perfect mid-day work break.
Eventually, the poor little llamas were lassoed and caught, but not before Twitter lost it's collective mind.

Talk about a calm before the storm. This is one of those rare weekends where there are no new wide releases hitting multiplexes, but that means there are a lot of specialty films taking advantage of that fact and sneaking into area theaters. You can see all of this week's new releases below, but first we'll take a look at some of the unique repertory screenings booked around town over the next week.
The Austin Film Society is starting a three-week series turning the spotlight on comedian Jerry Lewis. It begins tonight at the Marchesa with one of his biggest hits, 1963's The Nutty Professor. Screening from a Dcp (digital print), it also plays again on Sunday evening. On Wednesday, they'll feature Rodrigo Reyes' Purgatorio for Doc Nights. The Afs website describes it as a "lyrical meditation on the border between the Us and Mexico." Thursday night brings another...
