Popeye hands Bluto six sandwiches. Bluto spreads them out on his arm and there are nine. He flips them over, moves his arm, and there are eight. He tosses them in the air and eats all seven of them. Then again, math was never Bluto's strong subject.
Bluto asks for half a dozen sandwiches. Olive Oil cuts 6 slices of ham, but only 8 slices of ham (instead of 12 for 6 sandwiches). Then when Oilve Oil stacks them up evenly, there are 13 slices of bread and 10 slices of ham. She shuffles them together to make the sandwiches, and there are now 12 slices of bread and 11 slices of ham, with a slice of ham for every other slice of bread, instead of 2 slices of bread for every slice of ham (to make a sandwich). Then there are 6 sandwiches (12 slices of bread and 6 slices of bread, with two slices of bread for every slice of ham) that Olive Oil tosses Popeye. Popeye catches 6 sandwiches and hands them to Bluto. Bluto then spreads out 9 sandwiches, and tosses up 7 sandwiches, which he then gobbles down.
Bluto's hair is of a lighter color in the scene with the sandwiches.
When making Bluto a half dozen sandwiches, Olive shuffles 11 pieces of bread with 10 slices of meat to make 9 sandwiches.
