MODERATELY ENTERTAINING
J. Steed13 May 1999
Only moderately entertaining love and hate circus drama that is so-so scripted and directed; it is not clear whether the story is interrupted by the acts or the acts are interrupted by the story. La Jana, here in her first major part, can not dance but she is not that bad an actress as she is reputed to have been; with her half naked body she is exotic and lovely to look at. Blond haired Hannes Stelzer is a kind of vaudeville-Siegfried staring as if he is constantly amazed at appearing in this film at all; he was right. The different circus acts are good, but sometimes the use of trick cinematography is too obvious.
