Scrap Gordon (Bob Baker) rides to Wyoming to buy a small ranch and marry Joan McClain (Joan Barclay). Cueball Qualey (Harry Woods), the singing bandit, has just held up a train and is being tracked by U. S. Marshal Sam Fairfax (Jack Montgomery). After shooting Fairfax in the back, Qualey spots Gordon, and orders him to stop. Gordon fires and jumps from his horse and they fist fight and Qualey wins. Qualey plans to impersonate the marshal and bring Gordon in a the bank robber. As Qualey prepares to shoot Gordon, the marshal revives long enough to shoot Qualey before hie dies. Gordon takes the marshal's identification and believes somehow he killed Qualey. Arriving at his destination, Sheriff Haight (Carl Stockdale) mistakes Gordon for the marshal. Gordon decides to impersonate the train robber and infiltrate the gang terrorizing the area. Things go awry and Haight arrests Gordon and puts him in a jail cell next to Teton Joe (LeRoy Mason), the outlaw gang leader, who was arrested on a minor charge. Joe's men break him and Gordon out of jail...and complications arise.
