Donald names his inflatable horse "Seabiscuit" after the famous champion racehorse of the same name.
Seabiscuit, Donald Duck's inflatable horse would many years later appear in an episode of the Mickey Mouse animated short series colored orange and with white spots, then appeared in a few episodes of the Disney Junior series Mickey Mouse Funhouse as an inner tube for Donald in his original yellow color and red spots, and then would later appear near the end of the Mickey Mouse special The Wonderful Summer of Mickey Mouse in his original ride-on appearance and his yellow color and red spots.
The animation of Pluto getting stuck to the flypaper (done here by Shamus Culhane) is a reworking of Norm Ferguson's animation of the same routine in Playful Pluto (1934), and is for the first time in color.
Beach Picnic (1939) was the first Donald Duck short directed by Clyde Geronimi.
Beach picnic notably shows an example of an inflatable animal (namely a inflatable horse) depicted with an air nozzle/air valve on its nose.
