We meet the family Suominen
Petey-1023 June 2009
It's the spring time of family Suominen. The kids, Olli and Pipsa, are waiting for their summer vacation in Kesäranta, and Elina is waiting for the results of her baccalaureate.Everything changes when father Väinö meets his old school buddy Sami Nenonen, now known as Sam Nelson. He temts him to investigate his savings on the stock. And the family Suominen becomes a wealthy family.Toivo Särkkä's Suomisen perhe (1941) started the famous movie series, that got five more parts. It was originally a radio play created by a couple known as Tuttu Paristo.Lasse Pöysti makes the most mischievous character as Olli in his debut movie. With this role he became one of the most beloved actors in Finland. He's kind of our Mickey Rooney, who also started out as a child actor. And you must also love Maire Suvanto, who plays the snappy Pipsa. And the more mature actors aren't bad either, not bad at all.The father's role is played by Yrjö Tuominen.Elsa Turakainen plays the mother. The eldest sibling, Elina, is played by Sirkka Sipilä.Unto Salminen plays the agronomist Lasse Lehtovaara, who falls for Elina.Siiri Angerkoski is Hilda, who takes care of the house.Eine Laine is Mummu (grandmother). The role of Sam Nelson is portrayed by Joel Rinne.Emmi Jurkka is his wife Telma.Arvo Kuusla is Film Director. Also Taina Elg, who has worked in Hollywood, is seen in her first role as a child in Olli's party. There's a great spirit in this movie. That spirit you can't find in many modern movies in Finland.
