Hollywood's Make-up Magic (1942)

*** (out of 4)

Max Factor produced this 9 minute documentary that was made to show people some of the secrets to Hollywood. Every see an actor with his teeth missing? Well, he didn't do it for the role but instead make-up was applied. Ever see a man with hair on his chest? Well, that was make-up too as was the blood you see coming from dying people's mouths. This 1942 documentary was made to show off Max Factor make-up as this film claims that there are more beautiful people due to Factor and his creations. Overall this is a fairly entertaining film that gives you a behind-the-scenes look at the things that are faked in a movie. We even get to see Max Factor, Jr. himself applying the new "in" thing, which is pancake powder.
