Warning: Spoilers
Now for the news reels. Goebbels speaks to German citizens ,after bombing raid, to stubbornly continue to fight the Americans and Russians.Hitlers girl friends are encourage to become Nazi Wacs and Waves. Nazis fighting the British. Nazis fighting the Americans.Nazi Higher ups ,with complex names, giving out Tassels to soldiers. Now for the feature This is an excellent comedy with good performances by Willy Birgil,as a symphony conductor Paulus Allmann. in which there is more Nazi references like his alternate version of Wagner also a subtle form of Hitler. Marianne Hoppe, who was the wife to Gustav Grundgens, who plays a famous stage actress ,who is Married to Paulus, might be a subtle Eva Braun, her performer as the busy but frustrated wife of the conductor. Neither can't get together the right time. They are always busy. Then theirs Paulus's friend,Director Heinz Scholz, played by Paul Dahlke. Then his ex wife Heidi, played by Fita Benckhoff ,who is now married to Paulus's friend, whom she is very much still attracted to Paulus and keeps flirting with him. This could be a subtle form of Goebbels and Madga. Shes' so frustrated that she starts to turn to Dr. Max Hoffman, her agent?, played by Ernst Frtiz Furbringer, for the first time plays his own age. The mislead happens when Paulus come home quickly after a concert performance from new Amsterdam, another subtle reference, to Munich. He sees the two together. Julia and Max.After he leave it turns into an argument about careers .He wishes that she would give up her career as an actress and go with him on tours. His loneliness lead to his ex wife visiting him and almost rekindling their love , because Heinz doesn't understand her neither. The mishap comes when Heidi visit him at the hotel,Paulus is staying at before his friend Heinz's shows up for a visit. Heidi leave her purse accidentally and right when Julia shows up for a surprise to see that his ex wife is putting on some new slippers she bought for him.Paulus pushes her to the back room right before Heinz shows up. Know body knows that they are both married yet. But then Heinz sees the purse and ask who owns it. Julia finally opens the door and claims it hers introducing herself as his friend. It isn't until a dinner reception for the conductor, with his friend and his ex wife, that Julia with Max shows up with Heidies purse ,surprising Heinz and getting him mad at her, cause he thinks that she's rekindling their love relationship.Julia finally lets everyone know that she and Paul are married. But then she not to sure that she want to continue it .But Paul chasing her in the hotel convinces her, As I had complain to Turner classic movies about how politically correct that they are against moderate exploration of third Reich cinema ,unless it has social redeeming values. They probably would not consider showing this or any other Marianne Hoppe film cause she was close to Nazi higher up like Leni Riefhenstahl. But her career survived after the war, unless they change their attitudes.
