Janet Jackson’s current tour has featured guest attendees like Angela Bassett, Venus Williams, Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes, who reunited with the icon at Madison Square Garden to perform their 1999 hit “What’s It Gonna Be?!”
The performers danced together onstage Tuesday night in New York City as the audience cheered loudly. Rhymes then gave a five-minute speech honoring Jackson by giving her her flowers — literally.
“Queen Janet. Queen royal empress Janet Jackson. I said queen royal empress Janet Jackson,” he yelled as Jackson watched in awe.

“I don’t want to disrupt the programming too much, but I brought some gifts for you, queen,” he said as someone rolled a bouquet of flowers to the stage. “We’re going to give you your flowers. I’m going to give you your bouquet while you can smell them.

Madison Square Garden in New York was a party on Monday night. That’s because Janet Jackson had taken over the arena for the first of two shows on her Together Again Tour. As the audience waited for the show to begin, the DJ got the energy up as he pumped kickback classics like Faith Evans’ “Love Like This” and, of course, some Jackson 5.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7 is in a unique position to use its place in the franchise’s timeline to connect to various other corners of the saga that come after it in continuity. This week’s episode, “Together Again,” for instance, turned out to be a hugely important one in the wider scheme of things as it managed to both hark back to the plot of Solo: A Star Wars Story and look forward to The Mandalorian season 2. And the key to both was the return of Darth Maul.
In the episode, Ahsoka Tano escapes from the prison cell she was incarcerated in at the hands of the Pyke Syndicate. She proceeds to search their facility and in doing so overhears the Pykes having a holo-conversation with Maul, who it becomes clear is their boss. We learn that Maul has faced a series of setbacks thanks to his...

In “Together Again,” Ahsoka and the Martez sisters escape the Pykes only to discover the plot is larger than they thought. Major players from Star Wars‘ past appear in season seven for the first time, and Ahsoka is dragged back into Jedi business.
Here are the references, connections, and easter eggs we spotted in this episode:
Maul
The Sith apprentice-turned-crime lord is back. As the founder of Crimson Dawn, he exerts some influence over the Pykes. As a crime lord, he has cultivated a reputation for being ruthless, which is surely helped by his possession of dark side powers learned directly from Darth Sidious. Maul calls the entire operation “this mechanism I have designed,” referring to the political situation on Mandalore and his mixed successes organizing disparate criminal gangs.
This Maul has been through a lot since his first appearance in The Phantom Menace. Mechanical legs carry him under the...

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 Episode 8
Star Wars without the Jedi Order can be a fascinating place. In “Together Again,” The Clone Wars has to answer some of the questions the Ahsoka arc has been setting up all along. How will the discovery that Ahsoka is a Jedi impact Trace and Rafa? What does Ahsoka think about her decision to leave the Jedi Order? And is Rafa a scoundrel with a heart of gold, or too manipulative for her own good? Some of those questions are answered, but the answers sizzle out at the end of an adventurous, uneven episode that fails to follow through.
Back in the Pyke gang’s cells, Ahsoka has a plan. She’ll use her information about the Martez family as collateral while the sisters fly away, ostensibly to get spice to pay back the crime lords. But...

NBC is reuniting Parks and Recreation alums Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman. The network Tuesday ordered “The Handmade Project,” a new unscripted series from Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions. Poehler and Offerman are set to co-host the competition series, which will feature artisans competing to impress judges with their hand-made crafts. NBC has given the series a six-episode season-one order.
In each episode, contestants will tackle projects based on a new theme, with the level of difficulty steadily increasing. At the end of the season, one contestant will be crowned champion.
“I’m thrilled to be celebrating artists who make things by hand, and I’m looking forward to finally conquering my fear of paper mache,” Poehler said.
Said Offerman: “People who make things are my favorite kind of folk. Practical, clever and terrific in a pinch.

Dealing with the emotional fallout of Franny's removal, Homeland Season 6 Episode 8 plunged Carrie into deep depression. Her despair began to dissipate when Saul gave her a purpose – helping him bring Dar down.
Peter Quinn followed the opposite trajectory. He began with a purpose – investigating what Dar's true intentions were in cloistering him in the boondocks – and ended up defeated. Almost.
More Mangst for Quinn
Ugh, did they just pull the old “disposable woman” trope on Astrid?
In my review of Homeland Season 6 Episode 7, I noted Astrid’s appearance felt random. I naively hoped her return would serve a worthy purpose. Well it sure looks like they brought her back just to die for the sake of Quinn’s arc. Not cool.
I’ll bet you five dollars Quinn’s gonna go into full-blown action mode to avenge Astrid’s death…predictable much?

Need to find a bit of movie happiness? Here are 25 films that might just do the trick...
Let's face it, we could all probably do with a little bit of cheering up right about now. Times are scary and times are tough, so it's perfectly natural to look for some kind of reassurance that everything will indeed be all right in the end.
Film is perhaps one of the most powerful and effective tools in doing this. It can be a transportative experience, an escape from reality, and, most importantly, it can act as a reminder of all that is good in the world.
With that in mind, here’s a list of 25 movies that are almost-guaranteed to make you smile and restore your faith in humanity...

TMZ reported today that Larsa and Scottie Pippen are back together again. Larsa posted a pic of the two Saturday and it’s got “happy couple” written all over it. Scottie filed for divorce from the former “Real Housewives” star back in October, but the two hanging out again recently. This picture seems to prove that all is right again in the Pippen house again. So, anything else to say? Yup. Who cares? Why is Scottie Pippen’s love like a big deal? I’m pretty sure the only reason is because Larsa is ridiculously attractive and because every time Scottie Pippen’s name

With Together Again, Jesse Hassenger looks at actors and directors who have worked together on at least three films, analyzing the nature of their collaborations.
Among the countless contributions Roger Ebert made to film criticism, the Kevin Kline Mustache Principle may not rank highest, but it has provided a lasting and extremely helpful lens for recognizing one actor’s intentions. Put simply: In movies where accomplished stage and film performer Kevin Kline sports some kind of facial hair, he signals that he is playing comedy. In movies where he is clean-shaven, he is usually serious. It’s not iron clad, but even the exceptions tend to prove the rule: When Kline appears clean-shaven in the comedies Fierce Creatures and Wild Wild West, he balances the scales by taking on dual roles in both movies, allowing him to have his beard and shave it, too.

On this episode of Nashville, "Let's Put It Back Together Again," Avery's latest producing job proves more challenging than he anticipated, Juliette finally meets her guardian angel, Maddie meets a talented street performer and a new employee at Highway 65 appears obsessed with Rayna.
Avery and Deacon begin working with YouTube sensation Ashley Willerman who is a bit of a diva. Also starting a new job is Maddie who is interning at the recording studio with her dad and Avery. One of her first jobs is fetching coffee for Ashley and her entourage. Outside she encounters a talented (and cute) street musician when she drops a latte and he rushes to her aid -- you're typical meet-cute.

It must be the eyes. There’s wildness in them. I’d seen Michael Shannon in about half a dozen movies before I saw him in World Trade Center, where he plays a real-life Marine who saw the wreckage in Manhattan on 9/11, got in his car, and drove down to the World Trade Center site to pitch in. Brian De Palma met his first wife on a movie set. This is not uncommon for people who work in the film industry, but it seems particularly appropriate for De Palma, whose work often takes place in a stylized universe composed in crazy tracking shots, split-screen storytelling, split-diopter images, and other heightened tricks of the trade. In a seemingly perverse touch, the meet-cute movie in question was Carrie, in which Allen, then in her mid-20s, played a coarse, vindictive, borderline evil teenage girl. As the meanest girl in a horror movie, Allen is killed on screen, in a fiery car wreck after attempting to run over the telekinetic outcast Carrie White.
In real life, Allen survived to marry De Palma in 1979—and get killed...

Last month, Denzel Washington starred in a remake of The Magnificent Seven. If the internet existed 50 or 60 years ago, how many of Old Hollywood’s most beloved stars would be called out for always playing the same part? Actors who can disappear into a role have long been the subject of admiration, yet so few leading performers operate with this aim—in general, and especially in movies made during the first 40 or 50 years of the medium—that a versatility requirement would disqualify many beloved figures from legendary status.
No one, for example, would claim James Stewart as a chameleon. That handsome face, seeming to narrow slightly as he reached middle-age and his hairline receded; that lanky frame; the deliberate pace of his impression-friendly voice. He’s not an easy man to disguise. (Even ...

I'm off to a Ghostbusters (2016) screening and these questions and a desire to hear your answers suddenly struck me:
1. Which male heavy movie would you most love to see rethunk with a female heavy cast?
2. If you had a vote for Best Original Song in 1984 which of the hit single nominees would you have gone for? (They were all huge hits)
"Against All Odds" (Against All Odds)
"Footloose" (Footloose)
"Ghostbusters" (Ghostbusters)
"I Just Called To Say I Love You" (The Woman in Red)
"Let's Hear It For the Boy" (Footloose)
