When construction workers dig up the body of missing merchant Oskar Kampmann in the basement of Matthias Radschek's inn he is charged with murder since Oskar had harassed Matthias' wife Lisa before he disappeared.
Mathias Radschek, host of the Birnbaum inn, loves his young wife and can't refuse her anything she wants. Since Lisa's wish list is extremely extensive, Mathias has to earn a lot more than he does. To make that extra income he is trading smuggled furs. But Mathias has another problem, the wine merchant Oskar Kampmann who is very charmed by Lisa.—Ulf Kjell Gür
