This was one of the first Hiemat films It was also a part rubble comedy.In this picture, no one uses Reich marks. You see everyone bartering with objects. This movie was satirizing this fact.As in all Hans Moser films, he plays a faithful assistance.He works for Vienna city council Franz Gieger,played by Paul Horbinger. He has discovered his ex girl friend Marianne Malhuber,played by Maria Andergast runs an inn on the Danube and has a daughter name Mariandl too. He realizes that it might be his daughter. So he get's his assistance to make a reservation at this inn. The inn. It's hardly making any business. Marianne s.r. is having trouble making ends meet. Her daughter,played by Waltraus Haas, helps her out as the waitress and her boy friend as a waiter Hans,played by Louis Soldan, and Grandpa,played by Joseph Egger, being sarcastic all the time. The Mayor Mathias,played by Hermann Erhardt, wants to do something with her place. When Hans Moser shows up, the mayor tries to stop him from coming in. But Maria needing the money she lets him in.As she shows him the room,he informs her that its for the head of the Vienna councilor who coming in a few days. Later ,as he's drinking his wine in the dinning room, he notices that Maria and Waltruas and Grandpa is sitting in the table , Marianne s.r. is figuring out the bills. Hans sits with them and asked her if there any problem and Marianne tells her that it's her families business. Well Hans goes to the grocery store using a few franks and trade offs to buy meat for Paul.Next thing he's in the kitchen with Mariandl as he's chopping the meat up to prepare for it. Marianne shows up in the kitchen outraged at what is going on. Hans get's mad and leaves and decides to pack his bags to let Paul knows he'd be be making a mistake going out there. But all of a sudden he shows up. Marianne for the first time in years sees him. They start to talk which turns into an argument about their daughter and possibly how she doesn't want him to let her daughter know about him being her father.Every time Hans and Marindl tries to kiss each other , grandpa always breaks it up.Without letting her know , Franz tries to get to know his daughter as she sings the song,"Mariandl Andl,! Andl,! An-dl,!" with her zither. Hans the waiter sees them communicating and mistakes it for him making a pass with her.Hans jumps on her about this. Later Franz assistance , Hans Moser,persuades Marianne that she need to allow Franz to let Her daughter know that he, Franz, is her father and that Marianne and Franz need to get married just for the sake of their daughter. She agrees and he goes to the Mayor informing him. Franz tell Mariandl that is her father. Marianne comes out and gets mad about it. Making comments at Mariandl and Paul Horbinger. then as she goes into her office the mayor shows up and she gets mad at him. then the mayor talk to her at the office. The next day they are having a wedding celebration of both Marianne and Franz both aren't crazy about it. Then she and her daughter sing,"Mariandl! Andl! Andl! An-dil!, until Hans comes in and tells some good news about the council mans business a and he has to go. The next day Marianne is talking to the mayor. Later on she goes to visit a friend in Vienna and goes to the government to pay new license fees and petition the government for her business. Then eventually sees her husband again at his office. They go back to her inn. All of a sudden there are tourist. the band is there playing modern jazz and couples dancing to it.Her waiter is now wearing a suite and is managing the hotel. He shows her the new remodeled rooms and a new convenience, one room with a bath tub for the customers to use. He shows her the restaurant and the bar, You now see grandpa dressed up with his teeth on joking with the women as they drink.Then her daughter is dressed up and greets her and surprises her mother.They go back on the court and their is Hans and a little baby he's holding. It's Marianne's grand child. She shocked until her daughter tells her that she and the other Hans have been married. An accident happens in the inn , the bath tub falls from the second floor.The only message in this film was that Austria at that time must keep up with the present and future
