- A man is turned into a "catlike" killer by means of a serum invented by a crazed scientist.
- Two scientists on an expedition to the West Indies discover a serum which changes humans into cats, or. at least, to catlike killers. One believes they should continue with their experiments and the other does not, which disagreement costs him his life. Several deaths occur before the first scientist is halted in his mad plans.—Les Adams <longhorn1939@suddenlink.net>
- The film opens up at a creepy old house. An old gentleman, Dr. Cavigny (actor Ralph Morgan) is asleep in his office when a girl, Nora (actress Janis Wilson) apparently a sleep-walker, comes in, and grabs a gun, and walks out. She goes to her room, hides the gun under her pillow, then goes back to sleep. The doctor goes in, retrieves the gun, and asks if she's alright. She's worried about something, but he assures his daughter that all is ok.
We cut over to Eduardo Ciannelli as Dr. Van Glock in a lab with Dr. Jim Bordon (Onslow Stevens). He's working with Dr. Cavigny, and they have a shipment in which they discover that all of their glass vials have been smashed. Dr. Borden wants to get some special cats back to get more of the serum that they need, but Nora is there and she seems alarmed about the cats.
Dr. John Reade (John Baragrey) shows up. Gwen (played by June Vincent) has coffee with him. It's here that they see "Creeper", the lab cat. Nora seems alarmed by the presence of the kitty. She seems to lose it when looking at the cat and leaves, dropping her coffee.
That night Nora has a nightmare of a large cat paw creeping over a ledge. She tells her dad who comforts her, but she seems all shaken up. Early the next day Dr. Reade arrives and sees Dr. Glock possibly snooping around, but no, he was just looking for Creeper, he said. Nora shows up and chats with Dr. Reade and gives some exposition about her father's research, while Dr. Glock looks at them all suspicious. When Creeper shows up, Nora panics. She really doesn't like cats. She explains it goes back to her time in New Guinea, when she got some kind of fever there. She shares the details, which includes a sequence of jungle drums and angry-looking house cats. She ends her story, and Dr. Reade asks her out to dinner.
They go out for Chinese, and Philip Ahn is the restaurant owner. They talk a little when a cat shows up and she screams and runs.
Later, Nora sees the character Andre (David Hoffman) with dramatic lighting approach, and she screams and passes out. Her dad is there when she wakes. Turns out it wasn't a dream, but that Andre was there to help take care of the cats.
Well, Nora is dreaming again that night and a giant cat paw shadow creeps by. She dreams of finding her father dead, and then she's running from a cat and then falls.
The next day Dr. Reade shows up for work. He chats with Creeper the cat and bring him in the lab and sees a newspaper headline that mentions murder. He talks with Dr. Van Glock about this, right as inspector Fenwick shows up (actor Richard Lane). Nora has been accused of the murder it seems.
She is eventually released, and Dr. Reade seems happy, but Gwen not so much. She gives the doctor the cold shoulder, sensing he has a thing for Nora. He leaves and goes to visit with Nora and bring her some flowers. After his visit he passes Dr. Bordon who is on the way for a visit as well. Dr. Bordon isn't really there for a sympathetic visit but seems more interested in papers her dad had. Nora gets angry at him about this. She doesn't trust him.
Later that night, the Andre character is stalked by the big cat shadow and winds up dead. The inspector continues his research, and is even more suspicious. Nora shows up to talk with Dr. Reade, and she seems to be doing a little bit better.
Now a little later, Dr. Reade discovers Gwen dead, with cats all around her, and a fire in the sink. That night, as Nora is home alone, someone, or something, comes creeping in to get her. Dr. Reade arrives to check on her and Nora accidentally shoots him in the arm. Dr. Bordon then comes creeping at Nora with a weird cat hand and tries to kill her. Dr. Reade recovers enough to shoot and kill Dr. Bordon, ending his fiendish streak as the creeper!
