Based on a very popular BBC radio programme of the 1940s called 'Meet the Rev', in which a Father Brown-style clergyman solves crimes when he isn't saving souls. The film wasn't very successful so a series didn't follow (although the character did appear briefly on television). Gale Pedrick, creator of the radio series, co-scripted the film with director Godfrey Grayson.
