Another fabulous Leander melodrama
laduqesa20 June 2020
This is one of La Leander's comeback films of the 50s. Here she plays a nightclub owner who is romantically involved with a powerful local man on the island. The songs she sings reflect the tempestuous relationship she has with him as well as the temptation of a new arrival from abroad.

Revolution, insurrection, journalism, romance, the high life and a mirage of a different future all combine in this wonderful melodrama to make a film that keeps the attention concentrated throughout its running time. The songs are as good as any that came out of Leander's war years and she still looks good.

Cast aside scepticism and enjoy this romp.
