Three Paramount executives will take Bakish’s place until the question of Paramount’s ownership is determined.
It has been a tumultuous few months for Paramount Global as the venerated entertainment company has been regularly embroiled in rumors surrounding its ownership and, more recently, who will be in charge of the company. On Monday, some of those questions were answered as Paramount reported its first-quarter earnings for 2024. On the streaming front, the company’s flagship platform Paramount+ added 3.7 million customers worldwide during the first three months of the year to bring its global total to 71.2 million, up 18.67% year over year.
Key Details: Paramount+ saw 18.67% subscriber growth over the course of the past year. The streamer also boasted a 51% revenue jump year over year as well. CEO Bob Bakish stepped down from his post on Monday effective immediately and he will be replaced by a trio of executives while Paramount’s ownership is decided.

Clearly, this has nothing to do with him, but that hasn’t stopped all the mean kids from taunting him. There is strong speculation on social media that Barron Trump is being bullied over his father Donald Trump’s hush money trial. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Barron Trump – Bullied Over Hush Money Trial
As many of Donald’s fans and critics alike are probably aware of by now, the former president has been accused of paying off an adult film star to stay quiet about their alleged affair.
Their relationship supposedly happened back in 2005, but Donald apparently paid her off right before the 2016 election.
And while there’s no doubt that this entire ordeal has to be very embarrassing for both Donald and his wife Melania Trump, it’s their son Barron who is suffering the most out of this.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for The Jinx — Part 2 Episode 1.] The Jinx – Part 2 reveals what happened after Robert Durst‘s stunning confession to three murders. In the Season 1 finale, which aired in 2015, Durst said, “Killed them all, of course,” in a private moment on a hot mic. The confession led to his arrest, the aftermath of which is documented in Part 2 Episode 1, which premiered Sunday, April 21 on HBO. The first episode The Jinx – Part 2 presents two noteworthy moments — one that’s a shocking development that came from Durst’s first murder trial which saw him acquitted, and the other was a compelling, meta scene where viewers got to see the family of Durst’s murdered first wife, Kathleen McCormack, real-time reaction to his on-air confession. Here’s how each moment went down. A Juror From Durst’s First Murder Trial Helped Him Evade Arrest in 2015 Durst agreed to interviews for The Jinx Season 1, but declined for...

An exasperated Bill Maher, notorious for not having his own children, asked on Friday’s ‘Real Time’ why he is the one who is always left trying to defend them.
In his “New Rules” editorial, Maher trained his guns on the shocking Max documentary Quiet on Set, which detailed what the past young stars went through on the Nick sets. “Omg,” was Maher’s opening salvo.
Maher said that the Nickelodeon depicted “wasn’t a studio – it was Neverland Ranch with craft services.” He said the documentary was “scene after scene of the child stars of their day being exposed to…degradation.” He added, “I was grossed out and I’ve gone camping with John Waters.”
The documentary is the talk of the town in Los Angeles, Maher said, but pointed out that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was derided when he was saying the same things about Disney’s actions.

Perhaps sharing the screen in Julian Schnabel’s 2000 film Before Night Falls, is what brought Robert Downey Jr. and Johnny Depp close. But certainly, starring in one movie wasn’t what bonded them as best of friends, forever. Sticking through thick and thin, while supporting each other through tough times, is what made Depp and Downey Jr. great friends.

On Thursday, former President Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial shifted focus to his son, Eric Trump.
Testimony and documents indicated that Eric had sought a “lofty” value for a golf course and was actively involved in the properties’ appraisals.
Eric says he has no recollection of these actions.
The trial is based on claims by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who alleges that Trump, his company and executives, Eric included, fraudulently inflated asset values on financial statements provided to lenders and insurers.
The defendants have denied the accusations, and Trump continues to assert that the values were in reality underestimated.
About a decade ago, Trump’s companies sought appraisals for two of their properties in New York’s suburban Westchester County – the Trump National Golf Club and the estate Seven Springs. At the time, the companies wanted to explore the option of conservation easements for the properties – an...

Franz Kafka’s The Trial seems straightforward enough as you read it, and yet the words don’t quite seem to take you anywhere. There’s an effect in the novel of dense nothingness: Kafka’s brilliance was for a pared-down prose with complex resonances that deliberately strand the reader. In a 1998 English translation issued by Schocken Books Inc., the translator in his preface discusses the thorniness of recreating in English from German how the word “assault” is used in various tenses to link the protagonist’s slander, his arrest, and his relationship to a typist. One could spend years attempting to parse the bottomless intricacies of The Trial, and people have. Kafka achieved a prose that deconstructs the convoluted legalese that societies adapt in an effort to divorce situations from common sense and decency via labyrinths of language, and thus controlling the populace.

It’s hard to overemphasize just how big a shift the streaming marketplace is undergoing nowadays. When streaming first entered the video entertainment ecosystem, its main objective was to differentiate from the pay-tv model that many American customers had become accustomed to.
Nowadays, streaming is essentially the top dog in video. The problem for streaming operators is that unlike in the old days, when a big influx of new subscribers led to a corresponding jump in stock price, streamers now have to show Wall Street that they have a viable plan to make a profit.
This is especially critical for specialized streaming services that offer niche content to a very targeted audience. Data released by Antenna as part of its “State of Subscriptions” 2023 report shows that the 25 specialty subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) streamers it tracks have grown their share of total streaming subscriptions by a rate of 11.5% year-over-year thus far in...

“Poor Things” looks set to be a major Oscar contender this year. It just won the Golden Lion at Venice and Emma Stone just took over the top spot on our Best Actress Oscar odds chart. Supporting players Willem Dafoe and Mark Ruffalo look set to match an Academy Award record.
“Poor Things” tell the tale of Stone as a young woman brought back to life by a scientist in the Victorian era. Dafoe plays the eccentric scientist, complete with a peculiar Scottish accent and killer prosthetic makeup design, while Ruffalo hams it up as the scientist’s lawyer, donning a hilarious English accent and turning up the camp to 10. Both performances are now being touted as strong Oscar contenders in the Best Supporting Actor category, which could see Dafoe and Ruffalo earn their fifth and fourth nominations respectively.
Dafoe was first nominated in 1987 for Best Supporting Actor for “Platoon.

In some ways, carriage fee disputes are part of the natural evolution of the entertainment industry. Cord cutters are creating something of a paradox for cable and satellite providers; there are fewer people paying subscription fees, which means less revenue is coming in for providers, while channel owners are trying to raise their carriage rates due to the fact that fewer people are watching their stations and they have to make up the difference somehow.
The resulting disagreements over carriage fees can leave thousands of viewers across the country missing their favorite stations. That looks increasingly likely to happen to Directv, Directv Stream, and AT&T U-Verse customers in over 100 markets across the United States, as the company’s carriage contract with Nexstar — the largest TV station owner in the country — is about to expire in those areas.

“Adding Mlw Fusion to Fite+ is hugely important to what we set out to do – create a one-stop-shop with a low subscription rate for the most exciting promotions in Pro Wrestling and other combat sports,” said Fite COO Michael Weber. “[Mlw founder and CEO Court Bauer] is probably the only major wrestling promoter who spent time as a writer at WWE – and in Fusion you can see that influence week after week in the storylines and the action.”

Los Cabos, Mexico — Gaston Pavlovich, producer of “The Irishman,” has swooped on two prime IPs, “El Juicio” (The Trial”), a privileged-access account of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman’s New York court case, and “Los Narcos Gringos,” a portrait of U.S. drug runners.
The two non-fiction works are both written by Washington-based Jesus Esquivel, whom Pavlovich describes as “the most important journalist in Mexico in the eyes of many people.” Working out of Mexico City-based Fábrica de Cine whose credits also include Martin Scorsese’s “Silence,” with Liam Neeson and Adam Driver, and Tom Hanks-starrer “A Hologram for the King,” Pavlovich aims to adapt “The Trial” as a feature film, and “Los Narcos Gringos” as a drama series.
Both are potential explosive material. Based on interviews at the time of the trail with Guzmán himself, wife and other witnesses, the English-language “The Trial,” which will be published in the U.

Brad Pitt 'Glory Days' costar Nicholas Kallsen Brad Pitt 'Glory Days' costar Nicholas Kallsen dead at 48 Nicholas Kallsen, who was featured opposite Brad Pitt in the short-lived television series Glory Days, has died at age 48 in Thailand according to online reports. Their source is one of Rupert Murdoch's rags, citing a Facebook posting by one of the actor's friends. The cause of death was purportedly – no specific source was provided – a drug overdose.* Aired on Fox in July 1990, Glory Days told the story of four high-school friends whose paths take different directions after graduation. Besides Nicholas Kallsen and Brad Pitt, the show also featured Spike Alexander and Evan Mirand. Glory Days lasted a mere six episodes – two of which directed by former Happy Days actor Anson Williams – before its cancellation. Teresa Wright-Samuel Goldwyn association comes to a nasty end (See preceding post: "Teresa Wright in 'Shadow of a Doubt': Alfred Hitchcock Heroine in His Favorite Film.") Whether or not because she was aware that Enchantment wasn't going to be the hit she needed – or perhaps some other disagreement with Samuel Goldwyn or personal issue with husband Niven Busch – Teresa Wright, claiming illness, refused to go to New York City to promote the film. (Top image: Teresa Wright in a publicity shot for The Men.) Goldwyn had previously announced that Wright, whose contract still had another four and half years to run, was to star in a film version of J.D. Salinger's 1948 short story "Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut." Instead, he unceremoniously – and quite publicly – fired her.[1] The Goldwyn organization issued a statement, explaining that besides refusing the assignment to travel to New York to help generate pre-opening publicity for Enchantment,...
