Determined to postpone his own wedding to traditional grirlfriend (Lea Padovani) , a former marshal (Vittoria de Sica) leaves his bride-to-be and participates in an international music festival in Spain, where he falls for a young dancer called Carmen (Carmen Sevilla). Getting jealous of her usual boyfriend (Vicente Parra) whose father (Jose Nieto) doesn't want the relation of the lower-class dancer with his son . The chances for the two deloused sweethearts aren't over as it could appear. So much Woman ! So much Spectacle ! So much Excitement ! There is a time for bread...a time for love...a time for dreams......the stuff great entertainment is made of!. It's a Spicy Sizzler of a Scandal Story!.Fabulously filmed in romantic Sevilla...where only CinemaScope could capture all its famed breathtaking beauty!

"Bread, love and... Andalusia" is an enjoyable 1958 film professionally directed by Javier Setó. Dealing with a municipal police commander from Sorrento (Italy) and director of the music band finely played by Vittorio de Sica who makes a trip to Seville to perform at a festival, where he falls in love with a young singer and dancer , gorgeous Carmen Sevilla . Stars the Spanish beauty Carmen Sevilla who gives a sympathetic acting as the beautiful dancer and singer Carmen Garcia . A melodramatic plot served as a mere pretext for the insertion of musical segments to show off the stellar couple , Carmen Sevilla and Vittorio de Sica . The film was wonderfully recorded in Spain and Italy. This is a spectacular España-Italia co-production ; Productions : Benito Perojo, Trevi Cinematografica, Produzione Films Vittorio De Sica . It displays a lively score by Alessandro Cicognini , including Andalusian music and typical Spanish folklore with usual dances . Adding a colorful and brilliant cinematogaphy by cameraman Antonio L. Ballesteros.

This is the fourth film in the saga about the character of the Carotenuto brigade, starring Vittorio De Sica, in the fifties, these are the following : "Pane, amore e fantasia" (1953) by Luigi Comencini with Vittorio De Sica as Maresciallo Carotenuto and Gina Lollobrigida, in which a veteran marshal is sent to a small town, he quickly falls for two women: a midwife and an earthy young woman nicknamed "Frisky" . "Pane, amore e gelosia"(Pan , amor y celos1954) with Vittorio de Sica, Gina Lollobrigida and also directed by Luigi Comencini. "Pane, amore e..... " (1955) by Dino Risi with Vittorio De Sica as Comandante Carotenuto , Sophia Loren as Sofia Cocozza and Lea Padovani, in which Maresciallo is back to his hometown , then the former marshal finds his house occupied by a young woman working as a fishwife , Sophia Loren .

And "Pan , amor y Andalucia" (1958) was professional but regularly directed by Javier Setó and it should be a must-see for all those who love Carmen Sevilla . Filmmaker Javier Setó was a craftsman who wrote/produced/directed a lot of films in all kinds of genres : Comedy, musical, drama , historical, thriller and gangster movie , such as : ¨Abuelita charlestón¨, ¨Pelusa ,¨Pan, amor y Andalucía¨, ¨Maravilla¨,¨Saeta rubia¨, "Ha pasado un hombre¨ ,¨El puente del diablo¨ , ¨Mañana cuando amanezca¨, ¨Duelo de pasiones¨ , ¨Pasaporte para un ángel¨ , ¨Fantasía española¨ , ¨Flor salvaje¨ , ¨Las otoñales¨ , ¨El escándalo¨, ¨Han robado una estrella¨ , ¨El globo azul¨ , ¨El valle de las espadas¨ , ¨Bronce y luna¨ , ¨Mercado prohibido¨, ¨Viaje al vacío¨, ¨Long-Play¨ , ¨Querido profesor¨ , ¨Tabú¨, ¨¡Viva América!¨ , until his early death at 43 . And his best film : ¨La llamada¨(1965) , it is an offbeat and unusual movie , full of discoveries that one must see twice to appreciate how the supernatural is devouring reality. Rating : 5.5/10 . Essential and indispensable watching for Carmen Sevilla and Vittorio de Sica fans.
