Kathryn Grant was an obvious choice to voice the Princess. She had played the Princess in Columbia's highly success box office hit, "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad" (1958) the previous year.

This animated film was to be helmed by Pete Burness, who was a director on UPA's Mr. Magoo theatrical cartoons, produced for Columbia between 1948 and 1959. Burness resigned after disagreements with producer and UPA owner Stephen Bosustow. Jack Kinney, who directed many of Walt Disney's Donald Duck cartoons, became the final choice to helm the film.
The alluring Three Little Maids from Damascus are voiced by close harmony quartet The Clark Sisters, although it's unclear which of the four sisters voice which of the three little maids. The Clark Sisters also recorded a song, "Three Little Maids from Damascus", for the film's soundtrack album, but the song does not appear in the released film.
