Classic Kurt HOFFMANN comedy with Liselotte PULVER
ZeddaZogenau24 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A spinster (Liselotte PULVER) from the south of England travels to the south of France to research the family roots of her parents, who died young. The Search for any relatives is a little difficult, but she is warmly welcomed into the pension of a very likeable widower (Robert GRAF) who has a son (Oliver GRIMM) of primary school age.

Beautiful exterior shots from Dover, Nimes and St. Etienne! Plus old-fashioned harmless adventures with a full-throttle bus driver (Hans CLARIN) and an enthusiastic soccer team! Comedy specialist Kurt HOFFMANN (two-time GOLDEN GLOBE winner with "Confessions of Felix Krull / Bekenntnisse des Hochstaplers Felix Krull" (1957) and "Arent We Wonderful / Wir Wunderkinder" (1958) has made an enjoyable film based on the novel by Antonia RIDGE, which is certainly not his very best.

Its nice to be able to see the actor Robert GRAF (1923-1966), who died far too early, in a leading role. He is the father of film director Dominik GRAF, who made classics like "The Cat / Die Katze" (1988), "The Invincibles / Die Sieger" (1994) and "Fabian: Going to the Dogs / Fabian oder Der Gang vor die Hunde" (2021). Dominik GRAF, on the other hand, is the partner of ACADEMY AWARD winner Caroline LINK, who received the trophy for "Nowhere in Africa / Nirgendwo in Afrika" (2003) and was already nominated for "Beyond Silence / Jenseits der Stille" (1998). Oh yes, and Liselotte PULVER (GOLDEN GLOBE nominee 1964 (A Global Affair)) in the leading role is a safe bet in every film.
